Listeners is starting to fascinate me by how every time its writers make a decision, they make the stupidest, worst possible one.
Next week, they go to high school. Yes, the post apocalyptic show about revyteils piloting robots to fight the Noise has decided "fuck that setting, everybody's going to a regular Japanese high school."

I already acknowledged the pandemic. Delaying any film now is fine.

I just feel like some creators, like Anno, really do need a leash otherwise their projects spiral out of control.

And I never said they were actively working on it since 2012. That was when 3.0 was released. A film which was initially planned to be released back to back with the final film.

I said they were supposed to release 2014/2015. This was one of their original delayed release dates.

And for reference, Shin Godzilla was announced 2014 with Anno being announced as director in 2015 and work apparently starting same year. Film's release was 2016.

3.0+1.0 animation started about two years ago. Let's say 2018.

This whole rebuild project started around 2006 and each succeeding installment has been getting released later and later.

The film could have been released 2014. But wasn't. Because of poor planning and probably Anno repeatedly scrapping his plot for the films after each film.

You have literally no idea what the actual production process has been like.

    None of us do.

And it feels pretty dang entitled and inappropriate to complain about this particular delay due to the pandemic that neither the U.S. nor Japan has treated as seriously as they should.

Why not just call it 4.0 instead of 3.0+1.0?

I have finished Hi Score Girl season 2. The ending is super cute. I'm not sure if there is/will be any more but it's a sweet ending.

    Whole show is worth watching.

Seems like a sound decision to me. Better than being neets. Neither have an education or any real marketable skills. I guess they could become drug dealers or something to keep in line with the rock n roll aesthetic.

Also the writer is a dude who did scripts for Cowboy Bebop, gits:sac, samurai champloo, space dandy, wolf's rain, eureka seven and ergo proxy. I feel like he's probably pretty aware of what choices he's making. Just a hunch.

Probably time travel is gonna happen.

If I had to parse the title literally, I’d say it might detail someone traveling from a point between the end of 2.22 and start of 3.33, back to the start of the series to try to make things go better.

    Rokudou no Onna-tachi Ch. 185
So on the last page that guy approaches Rokudou and claims they went to elementary school together. I thought he was lying to get closer and get information, but someone in the comments pointed out that he's actually telling the truth. If you go all the way back to Ch. 9, there is a flashback and he's actually there.

Also, he wrote scripts for Battle Spirits, Gyrozetter, Dai Shogun, Puzzles and Dragons, and Mysterious Joker. Nobody is an unassailable genius who never produces crap. yeah 100% agreed here. like, it's one thing to complain about them having delayed it already (kind of annoying here but whatever), but to bring up the whole topic and complain about it having the catalyst of another delay because of a fucking pandemic is just a load of bullshit

The fact you think all of those are bad actually says a lot. They really aren't, I just chose series people here would have watched. Just because something like Mysterious Joker isn't your bag, doesn't mean it isn't a well done series that was well received. Hell you probably haven't even watched Gyrozetter.

All Gundam is, is shows designed to sell over priced plastic crap to kids. All most anime is, is actually advertising to sell books, games or toys because anime itself isn't a profitable industry.

    Keep on keeping on tho.

It was the children's show that had its giant robots dancing like pop idols for its ED, because when you're selling plastic crap, you might as well also get them hooked to the idol industry young.

Got to see the Bunny Girl movie through the Funimation stream. This show (/LN series) is now SUPER leaning into drama bomb Haruhi, huh?
This was Disappearance of Haruhi + Key visual novel-style emotional abuse - all the animation flourishes (the budget must have just been similar to three episodes of the TV show, there was NOTHING movie like in here). I feel like the ending was... strange. So the entire series we watched was wiped from existence, and replaced by a slightly less dramatic one that turned out similarly? But the sick girl magically got much better anyway, for reasons? And also, he ended up remembering her, which... defeated the whole purpose of her changing the timeline! What the heck...

I would still watch a season 2, as I quite like all the characters, but that seemed very finale like, so I won't expect anything.

Also, I watched the movie in two parts, and the Xbox app completely failed on me for the second part. It forgot I was a subscriber, despite my account settings describing me as one? I'm presuming/hoping that was just their server messing up and the app will start working again asap. Had to switch to the PC to finish off the movie.

So Kaguya-sama manga continues its tradition of having a serious arc every ~45 chapters:
This most recent arc with Hayasaka in the spotlight has been great. Aka-sensei rarely uses two-page spreads, so seeing Kaguya deck her brother with a sharp left hook was incredibly impactful and satisfying. (As a note, the author's attention to detail is remarkable. If you remember, the Student Council had an arm-wrestling match some time again, which Kaguya won using her left hand[i/]. All that archery practice must pay off for strength.)

All this and the Tsubami/Ishigami/Iino triangle arc is still brewing in the background.
