For giggles (and frustration), I suggest eventually looking up what happened when Fox Kids tried to air Escaflowne on TV in 2000. This involved heavily editing the show in order to de-emphasize Hitomi's role as the main character, and making it look like Vahn was in order to appeal to the boys demographic. This included skipping the entire first episode!

This version only lasted about 7 episodes before getting canceled.

At least the series got a full english dub (which wasn't bad, btw) and aired fully on YTV, Canada's youth television channel.

To say that Escaflowne was formative for young Elaro is an understatement.

I think it got a second English dub a few years ago when some studio put out a director cut version with extra footage.

I did not expect Demon Slayer to go where it seems to be going

That's quite the image to use for the last panel of your penultimate chapter. It was so subtle I came close to skimming over it.

I wish I could remember what the specific time period Demon Slayer is set in. I know it was mentioned that it's set in a particular period of japan when there was a really stark difference between how developed cities were and how developed rural areas were. Maybe that's not actually a time jump, and that's just one of the most developed cities.

    e:google exists
Apparently it's set in the Taisho period, which is from 1912 to 1926.

I just finished the hour long pilot to Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

Folks, this anime is something Fraiser & Niles Crane would reference.

    Demon Slayer:
takes place in the early 1900s. That skyline looks WAY too modern to be set in the same time period

Well, due to its rarity, I'm just following a youtube playlist of episodes.

But the first three videos are 56 to 90 minutes in length?

you should probably skip that third video for now, it's a movie that was made after the main OVA series had started, by a completely different studio

the second video is a movie that re-covers events in the first episodes of the OVA, but it's still worth watching both it and the beginning of the show

I just remember someone on a podcast watching the show and mentioning there were movies that came before the main series. I think this is the site they used, or they're also on VRV it seems. You might want to check or ask someone that knows if you should watch the movies first or not, but a glance at the first one's description definitely makes it sound like a prequel.

This is the show I'd always joke with my friend that we should sit down and watch, due to age/quality/length.

Looking at the replies I guess I will watch Hyouka first. Once I finish my current shows and A Silent Voice anyway.

And the second show I will watch alongside that is Escaflowne. Used a random number generator on my plan to watch list and ended up with that. Second time RNG rolled Escaflowne so I guess I should actually watch it.

So what you’re saying is you used some kind of... machine based on... fate... to... potentially alter what you were going to watch. And it gave you Escaflowne

So with the Villainess anime this totally flew over my head until this episode but
The student council president is also a reincarnation, isn't he? That explains why he has more presence as compared to he was in the game, and also why he seems to have had a ton of odd reactions to Caterina. Most of the cast at this point is pretty different from their game counterparts except for the blonde prince, pretty boy, and Maria, but Caterina is like literally 180 what her original personality was like. So he'd be pretty suspicious of "you are literally nothing like the character in the game so are you...?"
That would be a great twist. He's got no stake in the original story as a side character. It would be hilarious if he has his own imaginary council working to assist the retconned Catarina

Unless there's some weird dramatic reveal I'm extremely happy with the entire Demon Slayer comic. Sure Gotoge's linework isn't the most beautiful in the industry, but I loved every arc of the comic and it clipped along at a great pace. Actually, I was a little surprised when the final arc arrived. Overall though I think brevity is a lost art, in Shonen battle manga specifically, and Demon Slayer fully explored all the themes it wanted to in its run. I like it a lot. 10/10, will probably read again later this year.

They would make more money selling 5,000 copies of a barebones release for $150.
Because it would cost them less to manufacture the barebones release than manufacture all the fancy extras.

It's confirmed as ending this month, and you're right, there's definitely value in having one story arc, completing it, and then ending the story. Tacking on extra arcs to extend the series tends to lower the quality over time.

That said, I think what I put in spoilers will still happen.
