Insomniacs After School, which recently won the prestigious, "Kana mentioned they really liked it in the SE++ anime thread" award, is apparently getting an anime adaptation.

Kinda nervous they'll screw it up, it's a high school romance but a thoughtful, melancholy one

This is apparently just something they released to mark the vol 7 release of the manga and not technically a trailer, but considering they're announcing the anime in volume 8 I assume it's probably linked in some way to the anime production.

Because I am a turbonerd I have bought almost all the currently available volumes of One Piece. I am still missing volume 96 though, which is driving me slightly mad. But it'll be back in stock soon. I hope.

Princess Connect season 2 started, which is notable mostly cause it means more Karyl faces.

This show is very whatever, but I still watch it religiously cause seeing the expressive catgirl make funny faces makes me laugh.

Maybe the plot will do something this season.

Tribe Nine is completely insane. I don't know if that means it's any good. At least, not yet. It's by the Danganronpa people, so it looks and sounds just like one of those. They're usually pretty good, so I'll try to give this one a shot.

I have to complain about the name for a moment though. It's obviously about the nine players on a baseball team, so nine people in these tribes. Except there's four people on the main team, along with a set of quadruplets for the laziest way possible to fill the roster. But that's still only eight. And when the two new kids show up, that's now ten. Previews show one more person joins soon, which is eleven. At no point is there/will there be nine people in this tribe.

Also, the first bad guy team only had three players! It's not just leaving the rest off screen either, it's a plot point that they take one player out and there's nobody to replace them.

I think that it started out with a montage and just recycled its notable gags from the previous season while completely ignoring all of the plot threads it had abandoned in the first season answers that.

Picked up an anime about a dude that has a shitty life, only to wake up 10 years in the past at the decision that kickstarted everything.

Doesn't seem like anything special, but was good enough to get me to watch the second episode when I have the time.

Quick light-and-fluffy recommendation for something relaxing and easy to read; Umiiro March.

It's like Grand Blue in that it involves someone moving to a new place and discovering they like the world under the sea, but in every single other way it is very much not like grand blue.

A better description is probably that it's like Laid-Back Camp, if Laid-Back Camp were about snorkeling rather than camping.

It's completed and translated all the way, though it doesn't have a whole lot of storyline, so 'complete' is a bit of an overstatement.

I've got a few VHS of anime I picked up various places in college. But the only one I really care about is this one I found at the flea market during Kansas City Japan Fest in like 2003.
    h5l64wcsunvx.jpg

It was apparently from some sort of special edition. Japanese only with no subs, so I've never actually used that particular video to watch it, beyond long enough to verify it worked (20 years ago). But it's a really nice box. Solid/thick cardboard, had a flappy open instead of slidey, and a nice texture.

First anime for me was the Tenchi Muyo OVA set, back when Pioneer had the license. It cost more than I could reasonably afford at the time but I had accidentally taped over a bunch of episodes I got from Toonami and Sam Goody had it in stock. No more digital swimsuits for me!

My first real anime was definitely Totoro, not that I knew at the time what it was. I rewatched it endlessly as a kid. Definitely the first anime VHS I had. I didn't get many other shows as I got older but my local library had a treasure trove of great anime. Metropolis, Ghost in the Shell, Vampire Hunter D, the Street Fighter anime, and more I can't remember right now. But they were free to rent and boy howdy did I walk my ass 40 mins each way to do so all the time.

Growing up in Mexico I watched tons of anime before I knew what anime was. Mazinger Z is ingrained in my mind and I have a memory of a mech show that had a mech with a football helmet.

I was also there when Saint Seiya, Captain Tsubasa, Magic Knight Rayearth, Sailor Moon, Ranma and others were airing.

I had a Mexican friend in middle school who exposed me to so much anime. Excel Saga, Love Hina, Gundam!!! And a ton more. His older brother had a huge binder of burned CD-Rs loaded with discs we would watch on their booted Dreamcast. I remember seeing the model kits in that dude's room and immediately becoming obsessed myself.
They also introduced me to downloading emulators and roms... Jonathan, if you're out there, you're a king among men.
