Neon Genesis Evangelion is ok. It's fine. It is Not For Me™
I'm very happy that we all collectively agreed to lock the Evangelion discord sub-server.
No more posts in it, ever again.
Let us never return.
EVANGELION IS BAD
(You should probably not watch Softenni. It's an honestly fairly funny absurdist slapstick comedy, but extremely high on trashy fanservice. It liked to randomly do Eva scenes for... no real reason, except to be weird.)
Gendo did literally everything wrong.
No I don't care if it didn't do anything it felt amazing to watch.
I'm only about 6 episodes in to the total 24 so it may get more plot heavy as it progresses. It really rushes the mech/kaiju setup at the start and if you stop and think about it it feels half-baked and shallow, but it really kinda isn't the point so far?
Like, being a Trigger joint you expect a lot of insane over the top action, but since all the real big fights happen with CG mechs and monsters they took their ridiculous animation skills and used it for some really, I dunno, tender? Like, really tenderly animated and subtle moments of characters just leaning against a rail over a pier or something and talking. It's like the reverse of a Sakura moment or whatever the term is for breaking out the big guns to masterfully animate a crazy action scene.
I dunno. I'm digging it. It feels fresh and like a lot of love went into it.
It all keeps tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down

Yes you are correct I'm not sure where I got 24.

Crunchyroll has the subs and nope, still awful pacing and duels, not worth it.
Arc-v is such an amazing trash fire of a Yu-Gi-Oh series. "But you still take the damage!".

What did they say? What happened?

Uhhh, you know what, I'm gonna give y'all some time... and space... y'know, to decompress, rest... Heal...
Um, whenever you feel up to it, I put a sketch-comedy video about Evangelion watching in the spoilers? It's by LoadingReadyRun? It echoes y'all's posts a little bit?
It might help you cope.
in a universe of bad anime dads, gendo is in fact the worst anime father
Yeah that's about right.
I dunno man.... Gendo might beat Goku, but Ging Freecss and Shou fucking Tucker are a league of their own.
Though I agree Gendo is way way worse.
I'm pretty okay with saying Gendou is worse than Tucker
An equally unparalleled wife guy, too.

If there's anything I learned from old fairy tales, myths, and legends it's that when the kindly mystical woman offers to do you a solid in exchange for following some simple instructions then you follow those instructions to the letter.
I'd also add Genma to the list of all time bad anime dads, just for the cat fist training alone, though there's even more than that.
Politely is the key here. Being rude to mystical fairy tale women is at least as bad not following instructions.
Tried the same show on Funi and successfully watched the episode in question there. This is... an ill omen, I seem to recall a similar situation happening the last time I tried this service. Just to see, I'll try the Crunchyroll episode on Xbox again after work (and on Switch, why not).
Also left a big long note in the feedback thing about the lack of captions and awful UX in the app.
My experience has pretty much been the opposite, at least until I got an Xbox Series X and PS5. Haven't had many problems since then with only the rare occurrence of Funimation getting hung up on ads.
