Tokyo 24's Ward may legitimately be the most cursed anime production in history.

Two weeks after it had to unplanned skip an episode due to ongoing production issues, it had to do it again this week (though this time they threw together a clips/recap episode)... which was in turn pre-empted by the earthquake.

I'm extremely suspect of basically anything Cloverworks touches at this point until proven otherwise, especially for original anime

Something is just profoundly broken at that studio

Remember how after No Man's Land they rebuilt Gotham as New Gotham and everything was all shiny and modern? The bat-signal was a laser now since a spotlight wouldn't actually work like it does in Batman fiction, Gordon was retired, and there was massive unrest between the OGs (Original Gothamites, those who didn't flee the city during No Man's Land) and the...I think they were the DZs (Deserters, those who left or only came to Gotham after it got rebuilt all shiny).

What? Nobody else remembers that? Just me?

Yeah, it got tossed in the memory hole pretty good. I think around the release of the original Hush storyline was when they basically just soft-rebooted Gotham.

They're just one of A-1's studios that got rebranded. Not even sold off or split off. They're both still owned and operated by Aniplex. I'm not even sure there's any staff in common between WEP and T24. Probably just kismet.

The thing is it's a comic book. Gotham will never stop being a brooding dangerous city, supervillains will just eventually come back if you kill them. If somehow superheroes do actually manage to solve things in systemic way, some dangerous superthreat will appear to shake up the setting before resetting to the status quo.

It would be a cool elseworlds story where an insane Bruce decides to find a different multiverse where Gotham is peaceful and he slips in to murder that Earth's Bruce and become finally happy

Maybe his parents are alive and NEVER go to the movies EVER

Being the world's greatest detective means jack-shit if your city's entire system of justice & governance is corrupt to the bone.
Especially if you're not big on Punisher-style justice, aka murdering the shit out of bad people. And I don't even mean the criminals that would otherwise be in Arkham.

Batman is essentially Akemi Homura; he's fighting a losing battle, but to give up would be an even worse fate for everyone.

Ah dip I thought there were more episodes of Ranking of Kings and I just burned through the last one.

    I'll be honest
The whole Bosse/Miranjo thing... doesn't make a whole lotta sense and honestly they're both kinda extremely huge pieces of shit. I don't know how much of that is intentional to make Bojji's humanity thing really pop or if its one of those things where they think they're making compelling and sympathetic but flawed villains but actually they're just stone cold bastards?

Regardless the animation slapped and also I love Despa and his stupid pants.

I just checked out the first episode of Divergence Eve, some real quality 2000s trash. Impressively, remarkably bad CGI, with generic lightning effects pasted across the screen and death orbs just sliding around unanimated.

Since I finished the Quintessential Quintuplets manga a while back, I've been reading that other manga that was running at the same time about the guy from a poor, single-parent family with younger sibling(s) he needs to support by accepting a job to tutor beautiful girls with varying personalities and ending up with five different love interests as a result.

We Never Learn leans more into comedy though, and has better facial expressions, but it's also way more horny. I can't even count how many naked bathroom scenes there have been already.

The last volume (Vol. 21) officially releases in English in a month or two, and I'm only in volume 6 or 7 I think so I shouldn't be in danger of catching up before the last volume comes out.

Adult Swim is making another two seasons of FLCL.

These will be called "FLCL: Grunge" and "FLCL: Shoegaze."

Still no Season 3 for Big O.

I didn't hate Alternative or Progressive but hopefully Grunge and Shoegaze (love the names) have a bit more of an original slant to them. The first FLCL are big shoe(gaze)s to fill imo. FLCL felt like the people making it had something to say, even if it was buried under some really out there imagery

I had no idea there was more FLCL than the OVA.

I think I'm okay to keep it that way, not really a show that felt like it needed more story told.

The sequels are about different kids that Haruko harasses

Alternative was about a group of girls who are friends when one of them suddenly has to move away, they start to have weird emotions towards one another

Progressive is about a boy and a really quiet girl who wears her RGB kitty kat gamer headset everywhere and yeah, atleast it had a cool lady with a car in it

Toonami in the 90s was my introduction to anime back before I knew what an Internet was. Dragonball Z with the hammiest narrator in existence, Sailor Moon (surprisingly parents did not mind me watching this as a boy), Tenchi Muyo, Outlaw Star. Never really was interested in Gundam or Rurouni Kenshin though.

And honestly I got invested in the character TOM, the guy between shows who chatted briefly about what was up next, to the point I was sad when he got killed by an alien because he had a whole character arc! Then he came back as a cool cyborg and yeah it was all a marketing stunt to remodel Toonami with some new shows and look but I was also a child and despite being just smart enough to get myself in various kinds of trouble I hadn't even the slightest inkling of capitalistic marketing schemes.
