"Char is a pedophile" is just shorthand for "I didn't pay much attention while watching CCA."
People always act like Gyunei's word is gospel when he's very transparently trying to slander Char to scare away a teenage girl from idolizing Char, so that Gyunei can seduce aforesaid teenage girl for himself.

Gyunei's point that Char is a user is just... correct, though? Even if he didn't plan to do anything of that nature with the girl, he was EXTREMELY willing to imply he WOULD to make use of her. He was not a cool dude.

Manipulating people in order to utilize their diplomatic and/or pugilistic talents in a utilitarian sense is markedly different than manipulating someone in order to sexually exploit them.

I don't agree? He tricks a child into fighting a war for him on the basis of romantic connection (which he most likely does not feel, but he certainly SAYS that he does). She then dies fighting in that war for him.

It always frustrated me how characters in CCA would act like Quess joined Char's side because she was seduced by his masculine wiles, even though she had previously expressed how down she was with Char's political ideology and goals.

But then she gets in cat fights with his existing love interest and DEMANDS he pick her, Quess, over the person he'd been with up till now. She's depicted as INCREDIBLY immature, more like a child than a teenager. She thinks nothing of committing murder over being mildly annoyed or inconvenienced by someone, to the point of being willing to shoot Amuro in the face to hopefully impress Char.

tl;dr Quess is my least favorite character out of every series I've seen in all of Gundam.

Rewatching Zeta not too long ago and kinda picked up the impression that Quattro was kinda manipulating Kamille into (or at least enabling) his mental breakdown in the last couple episodes.
which makes Char's reaction to his fate in Hi-Streamer real fuckin cold.

anyway Double Zeta is real fuckin' fun as a group watching activity.

Watching Banished from the Heroes party

Its mostly light fluff but it does a fun take on the "fantasy world that works like a isekai but isnt" thing thats been going on lately

Everyone is born with a class assigned to them basically, that gives them relevant skills and yada yada

But it also gives them powerful urges to follow what the class would do

So you get shit like a 5 year old bar brawler that wanted to be a guard, but just gets in fights instead

For all the fluff, their take on what being a hero means spins pretty dark and it's definitely not a position anyone would want.

Banished from the Heroes party was an okay manga on its face when I read it, but yeah I absolutely LOVED its take on skills and classes. Especially regarding the role of the Hero.
Especially how the Hero is so utterly compelled to not harm the party as a "chain" of that class that after she literally blew open the Mage's guts for what he did she then had to heal him back to good as new. Also a good demonstration of just how utterly insane her specs are to be able to do both of those things with practically zero effort.

Also the bit about how trying to turn against your class is considered blasphemy, especially trying to change or just get rid of your class. There's some implications there I'd love to see explored, but manga chapters are frustratingly few.

isn't that just the novelization (or at least, the original version, I know tomino also did beltorchika's children later) of CCA? What did they add about Kamille into the novel version that didn't make the cut into the animated version?

The Build series is a weird thing to recommend as it has nothing to do with the Themes of Gundam and everything to do with Wow Cool Robot Model Kits.

Kinda the point though. I mean, it's a gateway to the various, more serious shows by seeing a Mobile Suit and makes the viewer going "oh, I wanna know more about where this came from!" Plus it's nice to have some fluff in a mostly-otherwise serious anti-war franchise.

    Ranking of Kings 23

I've soured on the show pretty hard in the second half, but man, that ending was just awful.
The whole bit at the end of 22 about going back to the titular Ranking of Kings? Completely dropped and not appearing in the episode in any way shape or form. All the gods stuff and all that people have been speculating about? Nah. Nada.

How Ouken's stuff ends? That one random thug he 'killed' in his first appearance pops up again out of nowhere, frees him, cuts off his head, and a fish eats it. The end. All wrapped up... apparently. Somehow.

All the people Miranjo killed? Give her a thumbs up as they sail off to the afterlife. Big speech about how she did bad things, but bad things happened to her too, so that makes it even. That's not how revenge stories work, for fuck's sake! You don't get a hundred free murders for each family member tragically killed! The people you maimed AND KILLED like an hour ago should not be gathering in a circle to cheer you! They weren't even privy to all the tragic flashbacks or anything! This is idiotic.

Also, it feels weird that most of the shows I have any hope for next season came are manga adaptions of Jump things. There's already one promo out there of one of the cheat isekai things that's about half just a rape scene.

Kimi No Todoke (think that's how it's spelled) is actually a decent romance but the anime doesn't get very far. The manga actually pays off which is rare for that type of romance. I'd like to see it get a proper complete series but probably won't ever happen

Wait think I got that mixed up with "Say I love You" lol from that list, still a good rec for a manga read if you like romance

Kokoro Connect is another one that's flawed, but has an interesting enough premise that it's at least worth a try.

It's more of like a "Huh that's a cool idea, it's too bad the author is fumbling it so badly, someone else should steal this premise but do it better" sorta watch, but it does at least have some interesting ideas tucked away in it.
