The box gag, or the scene about the VN wingman, might be some of the peaks of anime. When Nozaki lands a joke it's almost always excellent.

Kids on the Slope is superb and well worth watching.

The other good stuff has already be mentioned by others, but I'll second Nozaki-kun is likewise superb, and I have a soft spot for (most of) Amagi Brilliant Park and Kokoro Connect.

    and then there's problematic likes
food wars and the poorly-named "Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon"

Finished Ranking of Kings. I liked it! It goes hard on radical compassion, which didn't work for a chunk of people, but did for me.

Interested to see where it goes but looks like there's not enough content for a second season any time soon? Still, a fun anime, well worth a good ol' binge

Is it wrong to pick up is actually just a pretty good epic fantasy show with some mystery stuff.

The line is a throwaway to the mcs relative and straight up has little to do with it.

He does not go around trying pick up lines and trying to score or anything.

Land of Leadale wrapped up, without really wrapping anything up. The novels and manga are still releasing, so I assume the actual story has more going on there. It was a nice, cute, absolutely zero stakes series, though. A very easy watch, very relaxing. Plenty of good jokes. Just not much depth there.

Kids on the Slope also has some pretty massive "We're totally bi but it's the 1960s" energy.

Like, considering they're supposedly competing over a girl both boys spend an awful lot of time staring longingly at each other.

New Watamote chapter, Tomoko started filming her student movie. We don't get to see much of what she actually wrote yet, but this exchange cracked me up.

They've known each other for like, 4, 5 years at this point? And she gets to play a character because meh, you have glasses.

Having been involved in some student movie stuff in high school, yeah, this is basically 100% accurate to how you pick a cast.

I'm still a little salty about where they went with a lot of the stuff (especially relationshipwise) in season 2 and 3. Pretty much completely sidelining Ais when Bell wanting her to see him as an equal is like the whole reason for his absurd power growth.
I also thought the side season they did which basically covered the time span of season 1 but focused on what the Loki familia was doing and a lot more Ais backstory was the best part.
Basically Hestia may be bestia but she's not in my ship rabble rabble.

Are those shows leaving CR going somewhere else? Like Netflix or Hulu? Or are they just... not going to be streamable anymore for reasons?

So I did some digging, and it looks like AMC acquired Sentain Filmworks and Hidive, which is why AMC is pulling everything they shared with Crunchyroll. Reminds me of the BS when Funi and CR split.

I'm not sure if this is the last episode of Takagi-San for now but the anime really did all the heavy lifting for the series. I'm curious if they had the mangaka on staff to help them write the new stories or what, but if it's all the TV writers work they did an incredible job adapting the material while also adding to it. Nishikata has like, allll his character development in the anime vs the manga where he's kinda stagnant

To be fair, you can read it either way and both work equally well. It's something Watanabe always does well, subtlety is key. But they way they first meet is like, textbook anime meeting for a romance.

There's not a lot of it, but when it goes for the homoeroticism it goes pretty hard.

You can definitely have a perfectly good story if you read them as purely friends with no other complications, though. And obviously it's not like anything ever actually happens on that front in the end.

As opposed to say a series like Genroku Rakugo, where if you're not pinging to the main character being closeted you're just not getting the whole story.

I do think it is a little bit of a shame that true bromance (and girlmance, or whatever that's called) is kinda dead now, it always has to be sexual.
