Kids on the Slope is a great anime you should watch it you haven't. This scene is a spoiler so if you intended to watch it, don't click this:
    https://youtu.be/jRHJntLYMh0
From the start of the show, Glasses-kun wanted to tell the girl how he felt about her. He sat her down and played her "One Day My Prince Will Come" but she didn't seem to get it. After playing jazz for a while with Big Red (honestly can't remember the names rn) he finally starts to get better at getting his feelings across via music. All his drama and feelings come out as a medley of songs that all describe how he feels. And the girl is there, in the crowd, and it finally clicks for her what he was trying to say; but more importantly to her, she realizes he's growing as a person by spending time with that boy. Glasses-kun finally found someone who not only understands him, but is helping him understand himself

Excellent, excellent series and one with gay subtext, should you choose to see it that way. That is what's so great about art, it can be interpreted a number of ways. If you don't see it, that's fine.

Edit: they literally run home while holding hands laughing too, I forgot

I've seen it said that Flowers of Evil is the best show on that list, so I started watching episode 1. It's certainly interesting, and I can see why they gave these guys the rights to Uzumaki.

The popular reaction to the show was overwhelmingly, viscerally negative. In Japan sales of the BD volumes were supposedly under 1,000 copies.

But a lot of critics loved it and Junji Ito personally cited Flowers of Evil as why he gave his blessing to the director to adapt Uzumaki.

Let me tell you, you are accidentally flirting with your male friends if you do this. Or maybe intentionally but hey, that's what it is. It's less about "being an ass" and more about feeling comfortable enough with someone to do something like that. Which can happen in both a close friendship or... A romantic one.

Re: last page you said "why does it have to be sexual" gay romance isn't any more or less sexual than a straight one, but looking at every romance as a story about sex isn't right

There's a lot of framing in Kids on the Slope that goes beyond platonic and into kinda romanic. That's just kinda how it is. It's not even inherently sexual either!

There's loads of platonic bromance stuff in media too, especially anime.

I disagree. I also disagree that it has to be read that way.
I agree that you think it is read that way, which is why I wouldn't do it with you.

I mean its obvious these things are sticky and messy and it really depends on the two people involved what it is and what it means. I just don't read those two that way.

I also don't really get what you are saying there in the last sentence, its obvious I don't see every close relationship as sexual, since that was my point? I even called it a bromance, acknowledging the romance without sex part.

You keep missing what I'm saying. It doesn't have to be read that way, but many have. Your reading of the content isn't any more or less valid than those of us who did see it that way. Saying "but why does it have to be sexual" just because it's between two men/women is missing the point. Not every romance story is just about sex, and Kids on the Slope is more about figuring out who you are, and finding those who understand you/help you understand yourself. That can take many forms..

    Tldr that's art baybay

I feel like I'm being talked past, or I'm not expressing myself properly, or both, so its fine. It's only a minor annoyance to me anyway.

I'm happy for people to read whatever they like in the end, that's the beauty of stories.

Looks like the next chunk of Part 6 episodes aren't coming until Fall. And I'm not sure they're wrapping it up with just 24. So might be waiting another year for a final batch of 12.

Episode 12 ended at roughly chapter 50. There's 158 chapters total. There's also 16+ major named multi-chapter arcs remaining by my count, one of which has 13 chapters by itself.

I'd probably guess that it'll be two more cours of 12 episodes each, yeah.

My Dress-Up Darling ended, and it ended with the scene I pretty much guessed it would.

They really spent some money animating those fireworks.

Also, it's funny they left in some lines talking about how tall Goro is when the show draws him much shorter than the manga did.

So is Tokyo Godfathers. That’s a real fucking bummer.

I watched Paprika for the first time today(on my tablet unfortunately. This thing is real strict about where you watch it) it’s really good, I don’t think it unseats Tokyo Godfathers or Perfect Blue as my favorites though.

Another real unfortunate thing is they just don’t have the bitrate to handle that movie. Anytime the parade or butterflies were happening the stream quality nosedived.

Reading about Dreaming Kids after just made me sad.

Perfect Blue has been on my watchlist for ages but it's NEVER been available.

Looks like you can rent it on most of the big services for like 2-3 bucks. Plus there is a blu ray in print right now, or a fancy steel book version if you like.

Speaking of, I decided to watch said blu ray of Perfect Blue since I had gotten the steel book when it came around but just hadn’t had the Wright energy to watch it.

It was definitely a bad idea to do it after having watched Paprika earlier. It’s still a good looking film but Paprika just had so much more money thrown at it the difference is pretty stark.

Anyways. This blu ray is a real bummer. I went to the extras first and thought it was funny that they included the “original SD version” aka a vhs rip.

Instead it should have been a warning. I can’t seem to find anybody else with this issue online or in reviews so maybe my dvd and blu ray copies got labeled backwards or something? I had these white bars on either side of the film the entire time, gave it this effect of like the light underneath peeking out. And there was noticeable issues with the image swaying left to right like you’d get sometimes back in the day.
