Vinland Saga is an absolutely incredible manga about rejecting toxic masculinity and ending cycles of violence, but yeah the content might be a bit much from some parent's perspective.
Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar
Yup, called it.
I suggested it because the local library here has it in their manga section, which is kept in the YA area. Then again, they also have Pluto as well.
* my problem is that I don't have enough shelving, so I'm fixing it by buying even more manga and hoping it sorts itself out
Ah yes, train your apartment to shelve all your manga by adding more manga than it can possibly handle now! Now that's Anime(TM)!
All you need is friendship and to stumble into a small town job that provides free housing.
There's always Junji Ito's Cat Diary: Yon & Mu
Kaguya-Sama! *bangs on table* Kaguya-Sama!
Stuff I liked:
Obviously, it's very cute and the art is really appealing. There's a wholesome message about throwing away gender essentialism and letting people like what they like. The romantic development is pretty sweet and feels more honest than a lot of shows of this type. They appreciate each other in both a "this is a great person, hanging around with them feels life affirming" way AND a purely teenage horny hormones sense. Marin realizing her crush because Gojou has a wholesome relationship with his Grandpa was a great way to go about that. I liked that Marin was... a little too much in how much she liked her shows. She was a bit cringe, they didn't just make her super cool and perfect. That made her feel a bit more real as a character that despite being a perfect 10, she was also a bit embarrassing and didn't have a filter for her fangirling. I liked a show about an introvert (in Gojou's case) that didn't glorify the lifestyle, that said... hey, go outside. Make friends. Touch grass! I've been mildly distressed by anime shows with the deeply cynical themes, "Hating and fearing the outside world is based actually. Keep buying our shit and don't improve your personality at all!"
Stuff that I was not a fan of:
I like the "let people appreciate what they want" aspect, but not so much in how that translated to *product* is the best art I have ever seen! *Brand* gives my life meaning! This pornography is the greatest love story of our time! The writing was pretty shallow in that the gap in their expectations of the media they consumed together was basically one joke long, each time. Gojou would have a more reasonable response to whatever extreme weeb product Marin forced on him, as a reaction joke... and then he would have an identical emotional response to it, each time. To the point where they cried at the same section and had identical feelings towards each character. It would have been much more interesting if they were real fans, who appreciated different shows in different ways, in differing amounts. They did this a little bit, with how Marin was scared of the horror franchise, while Gojou was more enjoying it on a technical level, but every other show, they just cloned each other's feelings. Also, despite being wholesome in a lot of ways, as I mentioned above, the show tried to appeal to the lowest denominator anime fanbase a bit too much by assuring us that Marin, in fact, still had a butt crack. Every 20 min or so, hey guys, it's still there. We'll prove it, take a look! I don't mind the concept of attractive shots of the cast to make a story point (they are physically attracted to each other, this situation is making them hormonal), but this was much more than that, and it was too much in places. And speaking of that, Marin's character rang a lot false in that she's watching and playing very explicit stuff and yet has no awareness of the strangeness and danger of going to a male friend's house alone and taking off all her clothes. Like, if this happened as their relationship developed and she felt she could trust him, okay sure. But no, they have ONE conversation, perhaps 15 minutes in length. The very next day, she turns up at this near total stranger's house, fully planning to disrobe and she... doesn't think it's sexual, suggestive, or risky at all? Nahhhhhh.
In the end, I enjoyed the show, but despite the wholesome elements in the theme and how the plot went, would hesitate to offer a general recommendation, without caveats, unfortunately.
Fun show with a good main couple, very watchable (for lack of a better word) with a nice vibe and a ton of care put into it (I especially liked the random Texas Chainsaw Massacre homage in the final episode).
Also incredibly horny, though sort of in a different way than the usual anime horniness? Like there are the usual lingering shots, sure, but instead of something like monogatari or *insert Isekai show here* with the hyperspecific fetish pandering, this feels kinda like a less mean spirited, more wholesome version of a 90's hollywood sex comedy?

We also got to witness an anime casually slipping an AMV into its own show:
Meanwhile for Kill la Kill, we reached the The Honnouji Academy Cultural & Sports Grand Festival and there were simply too many reveals! This was us at the end of that second episode:
And in One Piece? We finally got to behold the power & might of USSOP HAMMER

And you do see that Marin sees that her teasing is actually stressful on Gojo, and reins it back because she does actually care about him. It's clear that she's seeing his passion and earnestness, and well...why wouldn't she want a decent, skilled guy who is happy to help make her ideas come to life?
It's sort of explained with her job - she works part-time as a model, which has given her a...odd relationship with her body, most likely. Though yeah, you do have to wonder what she's thinking.
Which is a great scene. But the one that gets me is Roy Mustang tearing Lust apart, bit by screaming bit.
She's a mass murdering psycho and deserves every bit of it. However, in 99% of other anime the hero would offer some redemption speech or "why can't you just be good speech?" which is how most Japanese tropes lean.
And Roy, just burns her alive screaming, over and over again, until she shatters in pieces.
And that's where you get that yeah, Roy Mustang is the scariest person in that show, and his allies have to keep him in check from losing his humanity entirely.
I mean, that one was personal for him.

New Witch of Mercury gundam suit looks wild
It'll teach you valuable life lessons like... I dunno kitchen knife safety?
https://www.ign.com/articles/crunchyroll-free-anime-ads
the demise of Crunchyroll's free tier has apparently been misreported.
First new Gundam teaser. It's a girl!
The Gundam is named Aerial and there's pics of two more robots that are pink and purple. Is this a magical girl squad Gundam show??
It sounds like they're going to be premium only for that season.
Cool lady pilots with trans-am Gundams? Sign me up. As one of the people who liked Macross Delta, I can get behind dumb magical girl robots if thats what they are selling.
That's lookin SPIFFY.
Do kinda wish they'd move on from that color scheme for the main gundams (I had to mentally go wait, that's not Exia/Barbatos when i saw it the first time). But still, very nice! I wonder if it's just trailer nonsense or the Withc name is something to do with her having newtype shennagins to be able to control her Gundam at a distance?
Do we know if this is going to be one 25 episode season, 2 25 episode seasons, or what?
Looking at previews, we've got the Gundam Lfrith which seems to be the same basic skeleton as Gundam Aerial, just with a lot more thrusters and a different backpack + weapon. then there's the Beguir-Beu which is a name. Both it and Lfrith are labled "prolouge" so ???

The magical girl and mecha genres have a surprising amount of overlap and similarities, it's true...
Hilarious comedy? Check.
Heartwarming romcom? Check.
Main couple actually dates for ~1/2 the manga? Check.
One of the most satisfying endings of any manga ever? Check.
IBO is easily my favourite gundam so I am pretty keen to see if the next one can match it
The show's called Mercury, she has short black hair, and the Gundam has a sky blue theme.
This reminds me of someone...
It's gone from subtle to full on intentional. :P
