The thing to remember is that he's training in a profession that puts a lot of emphasis on emotional intelligence, and that does have him socializing, just not in the same context as we expect from a teenager. From his interactions, it's quite clear he's very comfortable working the front end of the shop and engaging customers. What he lacks is personal socialization, thanks to one very insensitive girl doing a number on him emotionally.
Edit: There's a reason his grandfather comments on how his facework has improved after he's been helping Marin (which ties into the series subtitle, as she in many ways becomes his "bisque doll".)
And as the series goes on, she becomes more sensitive to his feelings, and reins the teasing back. Though not too far back, since she does have feelings for him, and would like him to look at her that way.
Still, masterfully made show, and there's no way the director wasn't a Lain fan. The final episode had eleven minutes with no dialogue whatsoever, definitely conveys a lot without saying a thing.
what now? being good at drawing doll faces and designing doll clothes is like the opposite of that description.
Anyways regardless, just saw the last ep. Solid rom com show. Good direction/art. I think it'd be more enjoyable if they didn't play up him spazzing out for so long. Give it a 3 second reaction, not a 20 second reaction. And maybe the "camera man" could try to reign in his male gaze a bit more.
What I really like about anime is how they take this hyper specific interest and make a show around it. It's like damn anime, you made me interested in GO of all things. Love it.
The business is a very people oriented one. You don't just churn out those kinds of dolls, you do a lot of custom work to try to help the customer express the ideas and feelings they have in regards to the set pieces.
You can just buy generic ones, but you wouldn't just go to a professional shop and be like, 'gimme that A set'.
He's asking for what specifically. He's killed a lot of people, please narrow it down for him.
The first season is... okay. Definitely not in the upper half of Bones's animation quality, and tremendously more melodramatic about every single thing than it needs to be. Half the season is just generalized existential angst, and the other half is tokenizing the one female in it. There's some okay action in it, if you thought that what something like Bleach needed was a lot more teenage angst.
Dunno about the second season.
Latest chapter of TenSura is basically just a bunch of building up to some action
It's so easy to access go read it your self if ya want spoilers
Yep, pretty interesting slice of life about japanese gods.
A bit dramatic but it does it well.
Also has one of the coolest things I've seen a complete slacker person I shouldn't respect say. I was like how dare you say that and pull it off, that's illegal!
oh yeah if you didn't know about the viz shonen jump website https://www.viz.com/shonenjump/chapters/one-piece
The Shonen Jump sub is one of the best deals in comics period. $2/month gets you access to a massive back catalog, with the only limit being 100 chapters a day.
Also, the entire thing is free on the Manga Plus app, if you have time to read thousand chapters.

When you think you're part of the harem but they still don't let you inside the house
They've done a few chapters about Discord, probably because the author plays a ton of Apex on Discord.
In other news Spring season starts Sunday! What's on folks' radars?
On the anime side of things, the Kaguya-sama team put up this poster on their website and twitter for April Fools:
「ここからは俺たちに任せな」[koko kara wa oretachi ni makasena]
translates to something like "We'll take it from here, (okay?)"
They are the Four Ramen Kings of the Tokyo Metro area, and very minor characters in the series. The two guys in glasses showed up near the end of the first season, while the other two were only mentioned during the introduction of the first.
Quite like this kind of April Fools thing. Fun and far too ridiculous to take seriously, so no-one's getting their hopes up or gets concerned. (That said, I probably would read/watch a spin-off focused on these characters. They're fun.)
In the translation I read, I think they just called it "Apex"? But maybe I'm misremembering. What I definitely do remember, though, is them mentioning Apex characters (and guns and gameplay) by name in the text. It's in the Miko/Ishigami-relevant chapters.

Spring season started yesterday with Paripi Koumei, which is... basically just another idol show, but with a dude from Romance of the Three Kingdoms in it. Better animated than most, I guess. Aharen and Virgin Road both air today, along with the new season of that "I Tried to Understand Love with Science" or whatever the translated title is.
Things I expect will be decent: (Official PV in spoilers for space)
Spy x Family. Action comedy. Most people know about it. Promos looked good.
Summer Time Render. Gory time loop thriller about fighting an army of invading shadow monsters who can copy people and gruesomely murder the originals. It's a Jump manga, but it's already finished. Quite schlocky, both in fanservice and gore, and apparently the ending is not great, but promos were decent and pacing at the start seemed good with lots of the kind of murdery monster stuff you'd want from this kind of thing.
This Healer's Annoying (Kono Healer Mendokusai, not sure the localized title). Fantasy parody that's actually a parody. Every character in it is completely useless, snarky, sarcastic, and unlike most of these, doesn't beat you over the head explaining the RPG/fantasy concepts it's making fun of, just assumes you know them.
Love Comes After World Conquest. Another sentai parody about the head Power Ranger and the head of the evil organization trying to date. Much more of a parody than Kuroitsu-san was last season, but also fairly harem-y (though the dude is completely dedicated to the main girl). Not so much a relationship thing though as the usual fluff, just with sentai jokes.

I expect most people are primarily interested in the next season of Kaguya, and I can't fathom why, but the manga for Shikimori's Not Just Cute seems well regarded. From what I browsed through it, it was formulaic fluff. One page where the protagonist announced Shikimori was cute, one page where something happens, then a close up of an overly detailed dramatic drawing of Shikimori, then he declares that she's cool too. Just that over and over. There's a shitload of sports shows too, though all their promos were generic as fuck. One about ballet (Dance Dance Danseur) is getting over-animated by Mappa, but its manga is melodramatic as absolute fuck.
Content warning thing:
The Skeleton Knight isekai thing, one of like fucking five cheat isekai things this season... Its promo is half just a rape scene. So, uh, yeah. Already competing with the second season of Shield Hero for grossest show of the season.
There are a few others on my radar, but those are the ones that stood out.
Fingers crossed for a GOAT season for Kaguya. I'm hoping the internet explodes just like when the corresponding manga chapter came out (which was timed to the release of season 1 episode 1, iirc).
...Wait what's that? The fight ended without a conclusive victor and now we're back to depowered Mori Jin filler adventures, now with weirdly mature literal children on a brand new planet?
I wish I could say it was an April Fools joke but nope we're doing this shit again for the fourth time now I think.
... what? I was just wondering if GoH had resumed serialization from its hiatus.
Executioner Girl spent too long pretending to be a generic cheat power isekai, and spoils its twist in both the title and the opening flashforward. So I don't know why they would spend half the damn thing pretending to be trashy, cliched crap. Once it finally stops though, it bounces around between bad groping fanservice, silly twisted 'horror' faces, and just regular fantasy fighting, before ending on going back to being cheat power isekai. The music is all the fuck over the place. Some scenes are Spanish themed, some are carnival carousel. Will probably give it at least one or two more episodes just because so much of the first was spent on pretending to be shitty instead of the actual story/characters, but there are plenty of red flags.
Aharen-san is Indecipherable is pretty much just quiet Komi-san with worse animation and no real emotional thrusts or character focus. Some of the jokes are okay. Of all the musical cliches in Japanese music, I think I may hate out of tune shrill recorders to show childishness/innocence the most of all, and holy fuck, does this use them constantly. It also doesn't help that the characters and dialogue is all pretty quiet and then the OP/ED are both ear-blisteringly loud JPop. Level out your volume, please.
I was interested in Summer Time Render.
But now that the mystery that the plot descriptions and teasers were careful not to spoil has been completely laid out I guess I can skip it.
Thanks.
If watching the promos a show uses to advertise itself is too much of a spoiler for you, it's probably not actually a spoiler.
