Whoops.
Finished 86, overall rather good.
Started Kotaro Lives Alone. It's very cute, and I'm sure the whole show is about making things better, but the basic premise feels fucking tragic and makes me sad. Which it's not like 86 is a party, it's genocide. But the lonely kid insisting he's doing fine just gets me.
Finally this scene can be viewed in all it’s HD glory.
Steam
It deserves to be posted!

I cant not watch it, Im just rooted to the spot, staring, every time. We watch an episode with dinner usually, and normally the op is just a time to dig in, but I forget to eat.
Its getting deeper and more meaningful every episode, as more of the symbology and character interactions are revealed.
Dammit, Shinji.
I'd forgotten how much they changed in Alita, too, since I'd just reread the manga.
I mean luffy did some amazing call backs to the stuck in snake from skypeia all in two pages so he's #1 of all time for me
He tore the front of one off and TKO'd Kuro's crew while hypnotized by Jango way back when trying to recruit Usopp
Then they sang to heal an old lady and that sent them to the song dimension where flowers and fairies shot out everywhere and I also couldn't handle that.
Please watch this show.
I had that on VHS thanks to my older brother. I thought it was funny.
I actually kind of like this one. The MC is a POS, but not for the all the normal sex pest/isekai/harem/power fantasy reasons. He has a rough outside personality, and likes seeing vain people receive their just desserts, but he mostly just wants to be left alone to do his thing and be happy. Unfortunately the plot has other plans for him.
Regarding romance, SPOILERS there's (3rd LN spoilers, which I assume the anime will cover):
You only have two pieces of clothing!? :silly: :rotate:
Not gonna lie very wary of a concept from Japan that seems to be "matriarchal society needs to be destroyed by random male". They don't get benefit of the doubt on some stuff.
Witch Hat Atelier anime! Kinda nervous cause this project needs the budget, direction, and production timeline that TV anime never get, but oh man if it works out it will be amazing
Particularly a sadistic misogynist at that.

Birdie Wing is what you get when you force people to make a golf show who really wanted to make a shouty shounen action show instead. The main girl, named Chris Christina, screams special attack names whenever she hits a ball, and both hits one through a train and straight through a tree to show her golf power level. It is chaotic nonsense. Not sure if in a good way, but definitely better than just a generic golf/sports show played straight.
Wait, is this a real anime?
Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)
I watched the "this manga [Teppu] will make you better at fighting" one, and like someone in the comments to that video, about five minutes in I stopped watching the video and went off to read Teppu, then came back to watch the rest of the video.
It was really fascinating comparing what he got out of it to what I got out of it -- supereyepatchwolf does jiu-jitsu himself, so when he reads a comic about MMA he is looking for how well it presents the actual grapples and combat and stuff, and I guess if you know what you're doing it does a good job of that. For me, I don't know much about what was going on during the fights, but that didn't seem to matter, any more than how I don't know enough about Go to really understand Hikaru No Go, or enough about shogi for 3-Gatsu No Lion, etc. (that said, I have never managed to get on with a baseball manga, those seem to be too much about the actual whos-on-which-base details for me).
Even without appreciating the fight choreography, though, Teppu is well worth a read -- is it a story about fighting? Well, yes, I guess so.
But it's much more (imho) a story about the meaning of struggle, and the meaning of victory, and progression, and community, and friendship, and how success can be the worst possible thing to happen to someone and what to do to overcome that. (which kind of makes it sound like one-punch man, but it is very very different)
It's completed, relatively short (the video says due to illness, and while the story does reach an ending, there was definitely more story to tell), and well worth a look.
I feel like the answer to this question is always yes, but in this case, yes, it's playing this season.
there are too many goddam isekais out there
I just wish there was some genre out there that shared half of its popularity because god damn am I sick of new stuff coming out and it's more elves in skimpy outfits and the protagonist is an average nerd but with a smartphone/laser pointer/basic meta awareness of videogame tropes/etc.
You know how people make fun of movies for all having the same promotional posters?
And that's just the reincarnation isekais of this season, which doesn't include the ones that are just RPGs that start out with the hero having the highest power level.
Such variety.
Send an orc to Tokyo U already
