200 pages! I'm sure that will be a ride.

I still think everyone should read Look Back.

Would Hawaii count as small island nation. Technically part of United States but that was by hook and crook and I can't imagine even modern Hawaiians happy about the Navy poisoning their water supply with fuel lately.

Spy x Family was good. The animation seems to be able to do Anya's faces well. Anya's voice acting is also great.
I'm surprised Yor wasn't in the first episode. Didn't the proposal scene happen in the first chapter of the manga? Maybe it was an extra long chapter or something, I can't remember.

I was about to wonder how far the anime would cover, but then realized this is probably a fairly safe bet for a second season anyways.

    Kaguya
I appreciate Kaguya and the President’s arm wrestling match breifly going to the tournament of power

Spy x Family was real good. They did a great job with animating and the performance of Anya which was pretty vital. And they’re definitely throwing some money to the animation.

I can’t speak to how fast they introduce Yor in the manga but considering how few chapters there are I’m fine with them taking their time.

No, that scene was not until chapter 2 or even 3.

Yeah, I went and checked. Chapter 1 was 70+ pages and was basically what's in the episode. The scene I mentioned was in Chapter 2 which was 50+ pages.

After those two chapters it seems to go down to it's regular page count.

Here it is, the best opening of the season, and strong contender to the title of OP of the year:

    https://youtu.be/oYmznjPfosE

Adding it to the sufficiently absurd, but cool premise (chinese strategist Zhuge Liang reincarnarnates in modern Japan), this is definitely a show I am going to check out.

Hold up, towards the end of that OP were three masked idols in the "antagonist" sort of vibe. The Four Beauties perhaps, with the fourth one being the manager?

Yeah it takes a surprisingly long time to introduce Yor, considering how central she is to the conceit of the show.

But the dad's intro is mostly there for the world-building and setting up the fake family idea, and then Anya needs a while on her own to set up the emotional stakes. So it doesn't feel like a slow setup while you're in there, it's just surprising to remember later on.

Symphogear AXZ continues the tradition of wild first episodes.

Akibaranger has more plot than a parody show needs, and it's great.

the division between "island" and "continent" is an entirely arbitrary size differential yes
well except that continents are more like political designations anyway since north and south america are one contiguous landmass and same for africa, europe and asia, barring man-made canals in a couple places

Vigilantes has been better about keeping its heart centered during its big bombastic finale. Koichi's also just...a better version of Deku's idea right now.

It works best because its riffing off the main story themes, imo.

It's still better, but it needs the original to exist to be better.

Almight and Deku and whatnot need to be out there, in the background.

OKay, Ya Boy Koming is pretty great so far. Halfway through the first ep, and it's genuinely pretty great/funny.

Also i like Koming's immediate attitude of "Talent is something you earn through hard work, not something you're born with".

I'm of the mind that talent is something you're born with, it's skill that comes through hard work. Talent's just a predilection towards something, a knack that can't be reproduced, but if it's not developed it's going to lose to skill.
