Men's Rights Activists. Otherwise known as the collection of chuds, incels, and misogynists that carried out the original Gorble Gurt. Also if you don't know what that is I can't say clearly because some of its ilk has the habit of Googling the term and brigading anything critical. Not that they'd get far here but it's an annoyance nonetheless.

One Piece is something that I love to read the wiki or spoilers about, then go look up the 2 minute clip of that one cool thing happening.

That's probably the best way to experience it.

Wild disagree. The manga is an extremely good read. Great art, surprising twists, funny jokes, emotional payoffs, etc. There's a ton of it to read but... it's good reading? You have a good time reading it? Unless you meant One Piece the show only, which yeah, I could not recommend watching that normally, the pacing is too awful. This was written on the premise of experiencing One Piece the story at all.

I've read the manga, and it's a better way to experience 90% of the content than the anime, yes. I'm not saying One Piece is bad, just that the anime is the worst way to experience it. I'd say the best way is reading the wiki then Googling manga/anime clips and playing the games, then reading the manga volumes and maybe watching anime clips, then actually keeping up with the manga, but just watching the anime weekly and consuming nothing else is at the bottom of the list. That way lies madness.

I would never say the anime is bad, because it gave us animated Minoru Suzuki.

I would love a Kai-like rerelease of the anime with the filler and slow parts edited/out. For what it's worth, I think some of the filler is actually good fun, but combined with the slow pacing in general it really kills the momentum. I have in the past accidentally skipped an episode and didn't even notice, literally no event from the missing episode wasn't fully established by the start of the next one.

Trying to read one piece with "Ok ill rush through this and get caught up" its not gonna be a good time there's so much on every page.

Relaxing and just, you know, reading it at your own pace, it's fantastic, there's so much on every page, it's a solid good relaxing read.

You can't really enjoy a nice sunset if you are too busy sprinting down the beach.

The anime has awful pacing and I'm amazed I stuck with it for as long as I did.

    Code Geass 12:

This is a 13+ show? That feels like it's from a completely different series, especially since I'm not seeing hardly any relevance to the larger plot.

Yeah, Table-kun is rather...infamous. And the stuff with Nina gets more important in Season 2, when she becomes Tsundere J Robert Oppenheimer.

Yeah, there's basically 2 kinds of anime filler. The random "non canon" episodes that may or may not even take place in the same universe just because they wanted to put an episode out that week. Sometimes they're good and fun.
    Sometimes they're bad and pointless
Sometimes they're pointless and good and fun.
    This is marshmallow filler.

And then there's the sawdust filler. When they say we committed to doing an episode per manga chapter but this chapter is just 2 pages of content so we'll need 10 minutes of slow panning shots of everyone's faces and every time the villain says a step in his plan the entire 12 person crew has to say "wow that's really evil" in turn.

One Piece has tons of both. You could edit out all of the latter while still leaving every episode of Chopper Man, etc added still probably shrink the whole thing by a couple hundred episodes and have something actually fun to watch.

Okay, @Reynolds, my thoughts regarding Kill la Kill:

Its a good show that is severely handicapped by both its own aesthetics and its choices. Its central cast (basically all of the students of Honnouji Academy) is great. They are Loony Tunes characters within the world of Dragon Ball Z. Its action is top-notch and every episode felt like it took place within the fireworks factory.

But basically every sexual element of this show is deeply problematic, and its the skeleton of the show itself.

Kill la Kill is a beautifully cooked meal presented on an irradiated plate.

Ultimately I think its a fun/good show but should only really be approached by an older crowd. If a thirteen year-old watched this, I would have some concerns, and I feel that's an issue when the show itself seems marketed towards that teenage-demographic.

We just finished the Water 7 saga and I think we'll stop a bit before starting Thriller Bark. The show's pacing really shows when fights happen. I think the final section of fights in Ennies Lobby took like 20 episodes? It was nuts.

I bowed out in the first arc post time skip, but when I really started to notice the pacing and anime time dilation problems was the end of the Alabasta arc, where they took like 6 episodes to defuse a bomb with a 30 minute timer, and they even showed the timer on screen several times. I think the last 15 seconds had a whole episode.

I am still baffled to this day that somebody seriously wrote the ending to that show. Like, of all the batshit horrible things and twists and developments, that they ended it like that is... good god.

It is an astonishing testament to complete and utter sociopathy.
