I can't tell the moms and the daughters apart at ALL

Well they ARE Chibis of their moms and it's in black and white too so no telling if they have any difference in hair-color.

Also, out of the four adult Inners, I think Minako ended up the only one not achieving their future career goal. Instead of an idol, she takes advantage of her husband's job in the TV industry to chase down celebrities for autographs.

Wait, wasn't the future a space utopia ruled by Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask with the other Scouts as the equivalent of knights?

Where'd the midlife crises come from

Parallel Sailor Moon is a comedic what-if story set in an alternate 1999 in which the Senshi took up regular lives after their battles instead of Crystal Tokyo happening.

I wouldn't exactly call it a utopia when it's implied that anyone outside of Usagi's Silver Millennium was pretty much doomed...

I heard that implication was in the manga but I don't recall the same for the original anime.

The anime shows that Crystal Tokyo is basically barricaded off from everything else the Dark Moon have conquered, so I think it's a pretty safe bet.

The thing is, for things to have gotten dire for the rest of the world during the Dark Moon attack, one of two things have to have happened. Either somehow Usagi and the others had to have forgotten about what was gonna happen (like whatever happens when two or more of the Doctor's incarnations meet) or they decided to let it happen without warning everyone or doing anything to soften the blow which I really find it hard to picture someone like Usagi doing, even after 1000-plus years.

kind of a similar premise, more comedy, and they haven't gotten anywhere close to a storyline where they literally do the plot of Mr. and Mrs. Smith by finding out each other's secrets because they both get a mission to neutralize each other, the manga feels like it's got years and years to milk the comedy of them not knowing before it ever reaches such a point. If such a story ever happens it will probably be because the manga is ending serialization.

Ah ok. That's about what I was expecting, since yeah them finding the truth about each other means the shenanigans revolving around keeping them both in the dark get lost. Anya herself is probably the best enforcer of this plot mechanic, what with the mind reading.

Yeah I think it's got several years on it before it starts to get tired, so they might as well milk as much as they can out of the secret-keeping before they make any plot moves

I doubt that discovering each other's secrets will mark the end of the story, either, or at least I hope it doesn't

I hate whenever they don't translate signage or writing in most anime, especially when it's clearly important to what's happening in the scene, but it seems especially egregious in a show that is specifically about communication!

The thing about Spy x Family is that fundamentally it's a gag series. Every appeal to realism or common sense should be viewed through the lens of everything working the way it does because it's funny.

Now, that isn't to say it couldn't go the route of lots of other shonen gag series and lean into more serious stories later, (Hitman Reborn is maybe the most egregious example of such a thing) but I think it's likely to settle into more of a comedy slice of life rhythm.

Also I'm sad that we probably won't meet the best character until at least season 2.

Sakamoto Days is in a similar vein, only it's a retired hitman whose wife made him swear to never kill again otherwise she'll divorce him and take their daughter. His skills haven't atrophied in the least though and he's frequently doing physical feats beyond even the active hitmen in the story. It's also got a mind reader character, though he gets used mainly as a way for the hitman to "kill" via imagination when annoyed with him.

Tonight on AniMenagerie we got some truly horrific, disgusting, repulsive art in JoJo's Bizzare Adventure, we started the hero-tournament in MHA, and for Dragon Ball?

The boys officially started their training under Master Roshi, which lead @IronKnuckle's Ghost to truly begin understanding kid Krillin:

    To expand:
The stand Thoth takes the form of a comic book that can predict the future. The art of the comic book is heavily stylized to distinguish it from the art of the JJBA manga, itself a comic.

Last night on Animenagerie, two episodes almost entirely from the villain point of view as Hol Horse tries to do his best to follow Boingo's predictions. Also someone (I think Reynolds) was posting clips from an old 2D Jojo fighting game showing Hol Horse's super moves, so that was cool.

Boingo's comic artstyle also reminded me of an old Russian music video about Dr. House that I hadn't thought about in years.

MHA was good. Could use more Tsui, and she shouldn't be stuck partnered with grape boy.

On Dragon Ball, Krillin is the worst. I doubt he'll stick around in the franchise. Goku already has Yamcha as a rival, so adding more rivals now just seems redundant. I am curious what they do with Launch in the future though, she seems like she'll stick around for a long time.

Then this morning I wake up, and in the Animenagerie discord Reynolds has brought up an old AIDs psa I didn't know existed where Shinji and Asuka have sex. Mari is going to be pissed.

So I had heard from general buzz that Made In Abyss was good but very fucked up

So curiosity got the better of me and I looked up exactly what about it was fucked up, and it was a very "dead dove do not eat" situation

But given that I had braced myself with foreknowledge I was like "alright well now I know the bad parts, let's read the manga and see why people like it", I ended up reading about 30 chapters of it, starting from a random point in the middle

....Wow did I really not know what I was getting into, just reading the plot summary did not nearly prepare me for actually experiencing this person's art

Anyway this mangaka is the most fucked up pervert I'm aware of, taking the crown from Urobuchi, and that's really saying something

Psychologists could write volumes about this guy
