but he is good at making an entrance
He has but 1 braincell but it does know 3 things
1. Who's going to be a pretty cool hang
b. The most important jerk to punch
Tres. The aforementioned propensity to enter with maximum chaos and cool factor.
And fourthly
Every state-toppling revolution must be followed up with a country spanning banquet
Said banquet MUST have meat.
I hate My Hero Academia.
But I love All Might.
His love interest seems like a femme fatale, but in the end that's a bit of a fakeout - the real fatal female is the idol girl, who acts all innocent and cute and will actually murder you dead.
You've also got the classic mystery setup of the dead girl found in the water, whose death ends up revealing a web of dark secrets of the town.

Disappointingly, the server did not say "here's your burger but it's not because I like you or anything, b-b-b-baka"
(and yes I know it's not quite spelled like that, but it's close enough we had to take a look, and the food _was_ pretty great if you happen to find yourself in Sundre AB at some point)
It was VERY GROSS!
If it's the episode I think it is, the way he wins is just great.

And then. I didn't really like the reveal that everyone being animals was actually the main guy's head injury. I wish they'd just let it be that everyone is animal people because these character designs rule and it's fun animation. I get that it is a bit unusual and so it must've felt like they needed a better justification for it, but I think those two reasons are enough and wish studio had just let them stand on their own. Giving a plot reason for it feels like a back down. Though granted that reveal did get us "oh good, it's just a cat," which I did really like.
IDK maybe I'd have liked it more if I just liked the noir plot itself more. Taken on it's own, outside of the gradual genre reveal, I feel like the noir plot is just okay.
It feels like the Love Live/Idolmaster sanitization/distillation/commercialization of a bunch of more niche properties, which I guess makes sense if it mainly exists to promote the mobile game and merch. It's taking bits from other things, where the original would go whole hog 120% off the deep end with it, and giving it a nice, glossy finish over safely rounded edges.
I was just bored by it. Like, the 'fighting' parts were kind of neat, but all the rest was just complete total banality and it never really connected to the surreal side of things. From what I understand, it does lean fully into the bizarre bullshit in the last four episodes or so, but the rest is... yeah, basically filler.
Genuine spoilers, if that helps
But… the H already x’d the other H!
(I actually do like that stuff, but not reading week to week and by an author that is almost essentially retired due to health concerns)
If you don't like slow burns or dry humor you probably won't like it.
The gacha game is a semi-canon sequel, the movie is the canon conclusion
What are some you've had before?
I haven't watched it myself, but that sounds rather unlike what I've heard of it, since basically all of my friends who watched it seem to be of the general opinion that Revue Starlight is basically what if Utena was directed by someone who used imagery for consistent visual metaphors that mean things, instead of just throwing out stuff and letting the viewer Rorschach the blots.
My first reaction to this was to try and find a clip of Gilbert Gottfried shouting "You fool!" but then I thought it might be too harsh and also I made myself sad.

anime is a very serious condition, okay? and if we didn't have a thread for it, these poor posters would all be out on the streets doing it unsafely! here, at least, we can provide clean pages and make sure none of the worst kinds of anime are done. it saves lives and affords these poor souls greater dignity.
And then when people started raving about the anime, I sat down with the manga just to feel it out
