this and also it looks cool as hell when a butler or maid goes sicko mode
But yeah the whole sequence of Hanekawa writing herself a letter is the most that -monogatari has emotionally affected me, besides maybe the stargazing sequence in Bakemonogatari
I have similar thoughts for Hanamonogatari, once you get to that. Definitely my two favourite arcs I think.
Alfred is Batman’s ninja maid
Shonen does a lot of dumb ass pulls, but that one is just so peak dumb in what's an otherwise really solid arc that 20 years later it still sticks out to me.
Also yes I still think about Kenshin on occasion. That was my early teens right there and one of the series I used to learn to read kanji. Author is trash but it's definitely part of my childhood.

The Macross Frontier movies getting theatrical releases! (When's DYRL, anyway?)
(And why always a Thursday!? Stop picking terrible days, put them on the weekend so everyone can enjoy, yeesh.)
Wtf.
And worst is still to come!
Final arc spoilers:
Always fun when a writer uses their work to wag their finger at the readers for 'not getting it'. The Avengers tie-in for the War Of The Realms event was like that due to how it's current writer was portraying She-Hulk. It was actually titled 'No Fun'.
Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)
What uh.
What happened to the art between those two posters. Can I have the first one back please?
The second looks like it's art from the Macross artist:
Could be wrong though.
I think both are great.

If you like em, I'm happy for you, you are more forgiving than I am. I dislike the right a lot. It also doesn't look anything like that macross art you posted to me.
Not really a sequel, there's a few references but that's all. Ties more into the original and a bit of Zero.
Never seen Zero, either... my wallet should probably be relieved that there's no official way to watch anything besides the original, and even that's a stretch.
And what got me into him was one long episode of him roasting Shield Hero.
But one thing I also noticed is he had decent praise for Re:Zero.
Now I usually avoid Isekai like the plague but I've noticed as far as that show goes I usually see more positive comments than negative so I'm wondering is it worth getting into?
Mine you I'm generally a fan of most anime as long as they're well put together and don't overly rely on tropes and fanservice.
Everything you need to know in Frontier is told by the series itself - you might pick up a few more details by watching Seven/Zero, but it's in no way neccessary.
Worht noting that the movies are adjacent (is i think the way i'd put it) to the series - they tell the same story overall, but divulge pretty seriously at points. All in all, i think he series is stronger (and, honestly, is an incredibly strong piece of sci-fi everyone should watch). The movies do benefit from some killer visuals, and that really benefits Sheryl Nome's whole thing of being an idol who travels the galaxy.

It's been sort of impressive watching the number of series that have gotten brutally reaped recently. Candy Flurry was another one where the premise was real strong and then bam, dead. Certainly gives the vibe that Shonen Jump is always hunting the Next Big THing, and if it's not blowing up, well time to make space for another shot at the big time.
Which i can sort of understand, but also i wonder how many of these series could have been really good if they'd been allowed time to grow. They also (from what i've gathered, i could be very wrong), seem to be laser focused on their local Japanese market, even when the manga is blowing up in the west via the Shonen Jump app or similar. Which seems short sighted to me, but hey.

Yeah that's the guy. Liked him cause he was knowledgeable as an anime fan but also very self-aware.
Also thanks I'll give it a look.
Like a series barely exists in the popular Western conscious until it gets a TV series here, with rare exceptions like Chainsaw Man breaking the trend, so even then Jump would have to be setting series up for a TV adaptation as the definition of success. Problem is that tends to go against the Japanese ideal of a show being advertisement for the manga...
I mean, i'd be more grumpy if western comics company werent doing the exact same (if not worse) shit with series. DC and Marvel are forever axing things, and a lot of the independant stuff also really struggles (Like Lazarus has been successful enough there is/was a tv series in development forf it, and it's last issue was... halfway through last year. The issue before that was in 2020. It's insane for what used to be a semi-monthly series!)
Not entirely the same - for good or ill production values on western comics are way higher in general (I honestly lean towards "Ill" here, but that's a whole very complicated story, and i dont think the pressures mangka are put under are healthy either)
It seems, in general, the industry itself is pretty rotten and i think that's something you can say about a lot of creative industries - profit and creativity are heavily opposed, even before we add language barrier issues into the mix (I bet there's a bunch of european comics this forum would love if they were translated, but how do you find an absence as it were?)
