If we're asking for remakes with modern/new takes on the subject, I'd love to see a new Vandread.

Hmm, remake of an old anime I'd like to see with a more modern take...

I think I'll go with...Serial Experiments Lain. I don't know if a modern version could hit like the original though, when it was prescient about technology instead of reality. But maybe it could go even further because of that, really dive into that transhumanism aspect.

IIRC the author of lain turned into an alt-right weirdo so I don't think I want to see how he'd rewrite it now

Upon arrival the group find that Political Correctness had spawned in West Shinjuku. Terriermon digivolves to Gargomon and Jeri uses her D-Power to digivolve her new partner from Impmon to Beelzemon. The two Digimon battle Political Correctness, though their attacks seemingly do nothing. Just as Political Correctness is about to use its "Cancel Culture" attack, it flees as a result of one of Gargomon's attacks finally doing damage.

(This is a sequel to the audio drama from 2018, which is like a time loop thing where they never met their buddies)

Man this is bad. It's like someone trying to copy Trigger's low budget style without having any idea how they use choreography and energy and flow to exponentially increase the value and impact of each frame.

Speaking of Yu Yu Hakusho, I've taken that up as my anime-over-lunch series, and just after the fight with Suzaku, I appreciate that the conversation between Keiko and Yusuke amounts to basically, "I don't mind if you have to get up to supernatural bullshit, just... tell me before running off, okay?" I feel like most series would turn that into a forever-recurring source of fake drama where oh no I'm constantly having to deceive my girlfriend about my secret double life, how long can I keep this up and here it's just like... yeah, Yusuke's going to have to go fight a guy sometimes. Keiko knows. She just wants to be kept in the loop.

Are there any other series out there where the kid hero's secret powers are actually known to their parents / mundane friends and just kind of accepted?

The thing that spurs them into fighting Political Correctness? PC forces everybody into groupthink and uses Fake News to censor the truth.

    It is so much projection.

I know, which makes it especially weird that it looks that bad! Hopefully that scene's an outlier, that trailer does have the usual Trigger flair.

An anime airing on Crunchyroll this season that I haven't seen a lot of discussion about is Love After World Domination.

I read something somewhere that described the show something like this:

"It's like if there was this sentai series with all these characters and backstories, and then someone wrote a fluffy romance fanfic about that sentai, and that fanfic is what got made into an anime."

Basically, it's romcom hijinks in a sentai setting. The Red Ranger and one of the Evil General Ladies are dating but have to keep it a secret from everyone (especially since all the Ranger identities are public knowledge in this setting, so the Red Ranger is very recognizable to most people).

It's based on a manga which is also officially available in English, but I haven't read it.

I have the same issue with it as I do all these ostensible romance shows. Instead of actually developing the characters and having a relationship, it always takes the tack towards over-dramaticizing the absolute minimum people do just in the course of normal interactions, like taking a photo together, or going to the other's room. You don't need to sacrifice comedy or the premise to do that. It is absolutely totally inoffensive and watchable enough though. I just can't see anybody sparing a thought for it approximately three minutes after it's done airing.

The show I'm surprised that seems to have completely fallen out of everybody's radar is the Zhuge Liang idol one. Seemed like everybody was super into it for the first two episodes, or at least the OP, and then... nothing. A few dance imitations from the VTuber/VR crowd, but otherwise it feels like it just went poof and everything's SxF and Birdie Wing.

I meant more of a "I haven't seen this discussed so you might not be aware this anime is airing and it's pretty enjoyable" not "Let's all discuss every episode" kind of thing. Yeah, there's not really going to be much to debate about it, I just figured I'd bring up a show that is rarely mentioned.

It's not as good as Spy x Family or Kaguya-sama, but I've enjoyed it more than the rest of the stuff I've watched from this season.

Though I haven't seen the Zhuge Liang anime because it's exclusive to HiDive and I don't have that one.

Dandadan is pretty fun but I feel like people should get a heads up before they check it out that there's a lot of fanservice, and some of it's of essentially sexual assault.

Saw some One Piece stuff about the newest chapter 1052. If anyone had doubts about whether or not Oda was writing Yamato in a particular way this seems to put the clincher on it without outright saying it. Oh and nothing plot spoilery plotwise in the well, spoiler below.
Yamato is very, very likely to be transmale as many have assumed from his actions and words during the arc. He joined Luffy and the rest in the men's bath after politely refusing Nami's invitation to the women's bath.

With a deliberate counterpoint of Kiku, transwoman who has much as said as "I identify as a woman even if I was born a man" as literally a possible joining the girls because she feels uncomfortable around unfamilar men. Even taking into account cultural differences and the played for laughs and fanservice nature of shounen bath house scenes, this does seem to be saying a thing. Not being trans myself I obviously don't have any say in how it is taken by anyone who is but it really seems like a purposeful message there.

    Point of order.

Zhuge Liang was like, 10 when Lu Bu was doing his main shit. Hell, Red Cliffs was Liang's first notable battle, and that's almost a decade after Lu Bu bit it.
