The extra chapter in the manga was fine, cos its a short read. Turning it into a half an hour was a slog, with only a few interesting bits. Sometimes doing a story word for word doesn't really adapt well to anime, cos anime is by its very nature slower. You can absord all the information in a single panel in a split second, but the anime has to show you over time as the characters speak their lines, and they just didn't really do anything very interesting with it here but extend the panels into animation. Putting that as a finale, which normally is fairly big and exciting, is a pretty weird decision. Yes there's a second course, but they still tend to make the mid season finale more interesting than this, especially given the next half is in October.
I don't really watch pure gag shows much so maybe that's just my preferences. I'm sure if you are just here for the gags its fine, there were some good ones in there. Wow!
No bells or whistles, nothing fancy at all, just "underdog boy punch hard" with some fun side characters and plot arcs/villain motivations that mostly make sense and aren't stupid (though the general world building is fairly dumb imo).
The follow-up to the underwater temple arc is where I feel like it takes a step up (no idea on chapter numbers since I watched the anime), but the basic pattern of how things work never really changes.
For as dumb as the world building can be I do like that in a world where magic is largely the domain of nobility, especially strong magic in Clover Kingdom, there's a reason for it that is not flattering in the least.
Does anyone know where the name Skip and Loafer comes from? I feel like I'm missing something obvious but I'm not sure what it is.
re: latest chapter
NSFW
That was it, the whole night.
Also, season four of AniMenagerie is officially done!
This is a good show.
random guess about the name from someone who hasn't seen it, I assume loafer is referring to the type of shoes, which coincidentally seem to be standard dresscode in a lot of Japanese schools if anime is anything to be believed.
a long wait, but worth it
Now, Reynolds, will this be some clean ol' fun or one of your deviant profane offerings?
You have cultivated a certain identity in our dark cabal as of late.
Lack of Eurobeat aside(?!?), I hear the new anime actually did a great job on the races.
Well, I've seen The Rolling Girls pitched as a lesbian road trip, but I'm pretty sure it's more cute than horny.
Golden Boy though...
birdie wing is all about indulgence and that does not just apply to Going Bonkers, it also means indulging in genre staples as well
this is just what kuroda does, the man wrote s-CRY-ed and that show is SPELLED s-CRY-ed
Well now you have my attention
And it ends with
He did what now.
Wrote my favourite show ever?
Is that so?
It felt like they were setting stuff up they couldn't get to do that particular thread is left dangling like, seems like a big obstacle for their plan but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Would not surprise me if we get a movie or something about what happens next, but the ending felt fairly definitive. Kudos to actually having an ending. I'm assuming the manga is different/ongoing.
One of the best AI characters in anime too. I loved him so so much.
True, but it does use the "scheming, plotting and attempting to outwit" strength of the series (and the reason I started reading it in the first place) to it's fullest. And it puts the "reality is often different from what we expect it to be" theme front and center. Overall, that arc isn't great, but it's not bad either.
Spoilers for manga
