The amount and title is also significant, since both were gained after the Lost July disaster so it has to be post that event at least.

The shame about solo leveling is the world is kinda neat.

One day portals open to dungeons around the world. A portion of the population awaken abilities to go fight it in the standard mage/assasin/tank line up. If the dungeon is now cleared in a week there is a dungeon break and the creatures start walking down the street of tokyo

Its a cool setting! It would be better if it followed anyone but the main character

Speaking of Beastars, it was a shame how the final arc was... not great. Especially how the point after the anime ends has some of my favorite bits of writing and character moments in the whole series.
I mean, the anime hasn't ended, there's another season coming, covering those bits. Though since they're only getting one more season (and there are two seasons worth of story left) I'm going to guess some arcs will get truncated.

Which is a shame, because I agree, some of my favourite parts of the manga deal with Legoshi learning to be an adult. Also, his grampa is the best.

If we're talking about areas where anime haven't done a good job with gender, particular women. I'm going to throw Legend of Galactic Heroes remake into the mix. I understand it's a remake and the major characters are set in stone. So you're dealing with a medium written during a time when people scoffed at the idea of women in the military, at least in substantial numbers. You also don't want to risk backlash, I mean, there are people that are unhappy that the uniforms dropped a shit ton of the doodads that only fascists would want to wear on a regular basis, where most militaries want a minimalist approach with uniforms (it performs all needed functions).

I'm just a bit disappointed that they didn't decrease the gender disparity, at least with the Free Planets Alliance. There are plenty of background characters with either no lines or are so minor, that they could have easily switched in more women characters. Like with the Free Planets Alliance, it really makes no sense that women are essentially non-existent in their military. The Galactic Empire being a patriarchal aristocracy, could at least run with the excuse that sexism from the ruling class, has resulted in no women being allowed in the empire. This is probably my one major in depth critique of the series, where it such a missed opportunity to do a relatively minor thing, of adding in more background characters that are women to the Free Planets Alliance military, to really subtly hammer out a big difference between them and the empire and it wouldn't requiring changing any of the major characters or plot points. Sure you run into the issue of, why are almost all the main cast from the Free Planets Alliance military men, but you could hand wave that away with there are women in leadership positions elsewhere in the Alliance, it's just space is big and so you don't see them.

As for Solo Leveling, yeah, the first season is going to be the high point and then it's going to go down hill from there for the reasons that Jragghen listed. Granted, I strongly suspect that the series will ultimately live and die on the quality of it's animation If it's crap, it won't do well because I'm not sure the early story is solid enough to carry things with a crap quality animation. One thing it does have going for it, is it's a completed story, so there less risk of it being bogged down by shit filler. On the other hand, all anime based on an existing work, are an adaption and depending on who is in charge that can be a good thing or it can be bad. Someone could adapt this to be even more one dimensional than it already is or they may decide that the supporting cast needs to be interesting and that could be a solid improvement, if they don't do shit things to those characters.

It's not much, but they do show that the FPA has women in political positions of power and advisor roles, which is way more than the empire allows.

as for the redesign, no, it's a big departure from both the manga and anime, but i dunno i don't immediately hate it? seems to look pretty good in motion at least

I hope even with the redesign (which I like a lot), they keep the Maximum fight

Spoilers for a zillion years old manga. Wolfwood's beatdown of Razlo is probably one of the most the viscous manga fights I've ever seen, and that includes some Berserk scenes.

    Nicholas-using-the-Punisher.jpg

He sets off the machinegun ammo with his pistol, and then starts punching him, all while bleeding out.

Trigun also deals with issues of violence vs. non-violence in way that, for once, is actually treated with some depth and compassion for both sides of the argument.

I couldn't remember if it was 60 billion or 6 million. Though I'm also not sure what he'd have done to get that 6 million in the first place then, he certainly seemed integrated with the town in the flashback until Knives did his thing and it was all the subsequent destruction from bounty hunters chasing him that cemented his reputation as the Humanoid Typhoon.

Super unlikely, but we can hope. I only subscribe because a friend uses it, I use his Shudder, etc.

I'm kind of losing interest though, it lined up nicely with AoT's final(ish) season and Spy X Family, but I'm really not feeling Gundam Wing or ZZ. Maybe I'll just keep it until I finish Nichijou.

Also, Netflix had Robotech for a while, and the dub/localization was surprisingly decent, from what I watched.

How no game has come close to that level of mechanics and speed is beyond me. I mean, it's not perfect, but it is a hell of a game.

My bro found an adapter that lets you convert GC to HDMI. I need to look into that, as I have so many Gamecube games I need to play again.

This manhwa was really solid. At 147 decent sized chapters they'll probably only make it up to 24ish chapters in a normal season tho. Which wouldn't even touch on the actual plot so I'm curious to see what they do with it.

Yeah, the issue really isn't robotech. It is what it is and frankly, the first part that uses Macross is pretty solid. I kind of dropped when they get to the southern cross arc because it just didn't seem good at all. Kind really comment on the final arc, with the middle arc just being an impassable roadblock for me.

Anyways, the real issue is Harmony Gold being ass about things. That's really what people should focus on and not extend that disdain to a property that is a product of the times, where three series had to be combined because network executives are idiots that insist on have X number of episodes for syndication reasons. Honestly, it could have been much, much worse and really again, the first arc is solid and can stand on it's own without the other two arcs.

At least we got the newer stuff out of this deal. We already got the show released in an unedited form, all I'm waiting for is a theatrical of DYRL.

to be fair to the animators, like 99% of anime really phones it in on monsters, either shitty CGI or shitty drawings compared to the detailed illustrations in whatever manga. Which makes some sense because it takes forever to draw frames of complicated, non-human creatures because it's a very specialized illustration skill. Like drawing animals but worse, because it's even less broadly applicable.

Call of the Night anime comes out this week. The main vampire girl is voiced by Aqua's Japanese voice actress.

I'm not sure how the anime will go, since most of the beginning of the manga is a slice of life about nightlife and such, and doesn't really get into the mysteries or vampire fights until quite a bit later.

Then again, I haven't seen the Tonikaku Kawaii anime. Was it all slice of life stuff without getting into...
...his wife being an immortal who has been around for 1,400 years?
