*in the past at least one of these aus has been rolled back in to what is considered the Main Canon but retroactively in a way that doesn't matter if you don't want it to
**the staff working on it have had some absolute bangers and some real misses, and their prior gundam work is generally well received if slightly divisive
Also turn a spoilers
sort of
it's basically an epiloque and side story tied on to the end of unicorn. it's okay but nothing incredible. very pretty though
which gundam stuff did they work on before?
After reading 100 issues of chainsaw man I was EMPHATICALLY not prepared for goodbye, eri
It was very very very good, but also I want to kick you square in the ballsack. I was not at all ready to have my heart wrenched out of my butthole.
Okouchi got his start working on Turn A (either you love it and it's your favorite or you don't care) and wrote the truly horrific 08th ms team novelization
He's mostly known for a little show called Code Geass
Hmmmm
I personally didn't like Turn A as much as most people seem to but its not bad, I just didn't care for some of the decisions of the plot/characters
Code Geass I haven't been able to bring myself to watch
not really, no!
check out hathaway tho
Reeeeeeeeal stupid, but real fun
I don't disagree with this! I just didn't find myself impressed with it as much as it was built up to be, I guess
sort of turn a spoilers? don't click if you haven't seen it
this is just a thing tomino does
also in a much more direct sense dianna and kihel look the same because people are often drawn to a Certain Kind of Person and this is a vision of what that might look like in tomino's eyes
I'd only really seen UC up to Zeta, and then the Toonami classics like G, Wing, and 08th MS Team, and honestly felt pretty darn good about Turn A (I'd say Unicorn is more of a Final Boss of needing UC background knowledge than Turn A is)
It's kind of like how knowing tokusatsu and certain Mecha series makes Evangelion's context a bit more ideal but it also just stems from the basic plot that like, 0079 Gundam and most early Super Robot shows have in a superficial enough way that most of Evangelion's arc works devoid of say, Ultraman or Ideon
i specifically think that
this almost explains why brain powered and king gainer are the trainwrecks they are, style over substance
minor victory stuff
and then there's a whole guy who wants to revive the ancient art of motorcycles
And very gay.
that was a pretty fucked up recco to whiplash you there yeah; if you want something that’s somewhere in the middle from him I’d say Fire Punch is both emotionally and physically upsetting!
Victory has some excellent early bits and then turned me off so completely I just skipped to the end. X I think I only found out even existed relatively recently, definitely not one of the ones that comes up in these conversations much.
eh, i mean yeah I love dying for the homies but there's gayer stuff
There's a major villain in Zeta Gundam known as "The Man From Jupiter" so it seems to be playing off that.
And that's just the first dozen episodes!
Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar
I emphatically recommend Look Back, a one shot, also by Fujimoto.
AKA the sad one
I'm gonna read all his stuff
And then once I found out everything made perfect sense
Gundam walks a fine line between hype and melodrama. Sometimes it can be a bit too serious for its own good, but its generally pretty grounded scifi like the Expanse. Space is scary, and humans in space are still jerks.
The invention of molinosfsky jamming for example is because the creators did a ton of research on modern weapons and knew that line of sight combat and melee needed justification.
