Notice how even when a hero has immense power they rarely seem to use it on anyone of status. Or on the systems they know to be wrong. I want to see an isekai where the protagonist finds out slavery is a thing and personally pays a visit to the location to kill the leader of the operation. Or hell, murder some nobility for once.

I think there's a isekai that involves something like that. I don't recall the name but it's about the protagonist getting pulled into the other world and ends up as the leader of a country. There's a clip of it I saw on Youtube where I think they end up killing most of the nobles in a room since they felt they couldn't trust them over their reaction on some decision the protagonist made.

@cj iwakura I agree the series is stronger, but there's a couple of things i like from the films.

One: To memory, the films give us a better exploration of Alto's concerns about how he was loosing his identity and why he quit acting.
Two: Sheryl Nome's concerts in the movies are fucking fantastic, and really do feel like what an interstellar pop-star would actually get up to. The holographic outfit changes especially.

Some of the best Sci-fi anime for a long time before or since though.

But yeah, overall the series is a lot stronger than the movies. It's a shame Delta was well, Delta, because i really wanted to like it. I still need to check out it's movies. I do hope we get a new Macross series soon, but i havent heard any rumblings for a while.

I really, really dislike how the movies end. The series ends in a much more positive light, and even the setup for the final battle is stronger, what with
them straight up assaulting the Vajra's homeworld and a TOWERING HOLOGRAM OF RANKA, epic as all hell.

Also, Grace made a much stronger villain than that usurper idiot.

The concerts in the films are pretty hype, but that's about it.
(Though the TV series also has the holographic costume changing.)

And the Macross Quarter cannon never stopped being hype. My only critique that me and a friend agree on is that the show felt like it needed to be longer, entire subplots that would have been like five-six episodes in LotGH are handled in one or two, or glossed over entirely(the Zentraedi homeworld, the insurrection, Michael and Flan, etc).

There were a few things I thought the movies did better but overall I definitely prefer the series yeah. Series also has one of my favorite troll moments, I was so glad that I'd caught up on the older Macross by the time that happened
The whole episode full of death flags for Ranka's brother and references to Focker's death, culminating in... the cast standing around in the hospital going "Damn, it'd be so dramatic if he'd died from that." "Right, can you imagine?"

    Chainsaw Man chapter 101:
Oh no, War Devil plotting to murder Asa's new friend, because the better friends Asa is with someone, the better weapon War Devil (now Yoru) makes when she kills them.
I wonder why I like this series so much, when typically downer series where everyone dies are repellant to me.

Bat Devil munching on that guy was brutal.

    Yoru has an interesting weakness.

That panel was very Saturn Devouring His Son.
The war devil has a certain weird psycho killer charm to her. She's obviously super powerful but also seems like kind of a dumbass, which is pretty on-brand for the living embodiment of war.

Like she keeps proposing ways to kill random classmates and turn them into weapons, but none of that actually helps her get any closer to finding chainsaw man in the first place, which doesn't even occur to her.

It's actually a trait I've liked about most devils (that speak) in the series. Devils are very dangerous, oftentimes pretty smart, but also all huge dumb-asses because they have seemingly extreme instinctual desires that overpower their behavior. The only devils who can actually like keep a lid on their dumb-ass destructive instincts are the ones that are super dangerous since they can actually, y'know, plan.

War devil is a real interesting concept for the chainsawman universe. Like sure war is feared, and it's such a big wide concept that holds so much power in human thought, surely she's gotta be crazy powerful, right? ... But it's also frequently glorified, sought out, celebrated, memorialized, a defining part of national origin stories... We started this with the chicken devil, who nobody is scared of and is just a mediocre classroom mascot. Are we gonna find out that the war devil isn't actually as powerful as you'd think?

Chainsaw man is an interesting comic. Because it gives you these deep emotional soulful characters. Who in mere moments, turn into raving sociopaths with zero understanding of empathy or morality for the sake of cool ultra violence.

I think the author has a screw loose. Makes for an interesting read.

Fujimoto: I also like domineering and irrational women. In college, there was a girl who was mean to me, and then one day at school my bicycle had fallen over. I was wondering what happened, when she said “I knocked your bike over, ha ha ha!” I was so happy.

Samura: Haha. She was into you, wasn’t she?

Fujimoto: Not at all. But I really like girls like that, and from reading your manga I thought you also like those kind of girls.

Samura: I like women who are mentally superior to men.

Fujimoto: Right, I want to have women in higher positions than men.

I actually think this is a more interesting quote from that interview.
I’ve always wanted to write a manga that’s like a Korean movie. There’s this movie called The Chaser where the main character chases after the villain. But thirty minutes into the movie, he catches him. This is supposed to happen at the end of the movie, so you keep wondering what will happen next. A lot of people say that in Korean movies they can’t tell what the director is thinking, but actually, if you watch until the end you’ll get it. I wanted to make something like that.

More boring but Im not a "haha that guys so crazy" kinda guy. You dont make a good manga twice that follows this style unintentionally.
