In Slayers, the first episode we watched involved the group dressing up to put on a fake wedding, and the second was them joining a traveling theater troupe.
So clearly the theme last night was SHOWTIME!!
The last panel with the pulled back shot with the cage with a feather in it wasn't symbolic at all.
My main question is what happened to Nayuta and the dogs?
I'm "kupiyupaekio" on Discord.
just a real tease to end the chapter before we get to see

The concept of "control" might be gone because he ate Makima? Or does that not count since he ate her while he was in human form? What would the concept of control being gone even look like in the world? The Blood Devil might reincarnate but it won't be as Power again.
e: Oh wait right the Control Devil didn't get consumed, it reincarnated as a little girl who was last seen living with Denji, I forgot. Thanks, wiki. So nothing to find there unless that situation has changed.
Read it. It's a really great, weird, and unique series from the 90s that I think is super underrated.
They're great together.

I got the same sense of disjointment as I did from Beastars when that was a thing. Like the world was operating under a set of rules that were perfectly cohesive but also alien to actually understand. And it's not even the powers or devils or anything, but more the characters themselves and how they interact with others.
This will be episodes 13-24 of Stone Ocean.
I look forward to it being awkward to talk about due to everyone watching it at different paces and then for it to be memory holed 1.5 weeks later
Thanks Netflix release model!

nah it's pretty much all the people. Even bystanders. How they interact and view death and gore and murder. It's totally alien.
I did look back at the previous two and those did not give me the same disjointed feeling. Like I said, anything to do with powers or devils doesn't trigger that feeling, it's how characters interact with each other and the world that can cause it.
The entire 24 minute prologue episode of Witch From Mercury is now up on the official Gundam channel.
You know it's one thing when a 13 year old is running around a mobile suit facility and shouldn't be there unsupervised, but when the adults just leave a 5 year old to play around in a facility like that........ wtf
you know being afraid of the devils makes them stronger
you know what makes you fearless? drugs and alcohol
government mandated anti-sobriety for all!
It's a real bummer, since they had the starting episodes show so much promise without needing to play in that space.
Their world has dealt with some weird shit, to be fair. Stuff like, in the span of .0005 seconds everyone in a zip code that was born on a Tuesday drops dead. And the people of that world just have to deal with that.
I highly recommend this, it's a banger and just really good. Also just a really cool depiction of artificial limbs

I asked a while back about stories that teach you how real things work, and if you want to know about how to make sake, this is for you. (also, if you want to know about how to convince the rest of the farmers in your village that organic farming is the way to go, or deal with workplace drama and disagreements between boss/employee, or how to handle shops that don't want to stock your product, or how to generally get your life together).
Latest issue, though:
Plus the scene where she's totally trolling her father the next day:
I'm also genuinely not sure how that one's going to end, because it feels like there are a lot of different ways the sake making could end up and pretty much any of them would feel plausible by this point, which is really refreshing.
Also not sure if anyone's reading Koi wa Hikari (by the author of Bonnouji, for context), but, again, most recent issue I said "holy shit" out loud because while that particular bit of the plot has been very obviously bubbling away under the surface for basically the whole story so far, it was not something that I expected to actually get to happen.
(which wasn't helped by the fact that the previous translators got about halfway through and then stopped three years ago, so I wasn't expecting it to get to the end at all -- it's not there yet, but there's only a few chapters to go so I _really_ hope the current folks can complete it. I still hold out hope someone else will pick up Amanchu! but I'm not optimistic)
ch 44
Our protagonist Mitsumi is not as good looking as Yasaka but her family is super wholesome and supportive, and so like she knows that healthy love and support is something she deserves to get in her relationships. When her boyfriend won't stand up for her the way she thinks he should, she's already like well, if he's not gonna improve then we might have to break up, even though that thought makes me really sad. She's not gonna let herself be undervalued.
But she also doesn't realize that that sort of standard in her personal relationships isn't something that everyone else can afford. She's always gonna have that supportive family that she can fall back on in tough times, and she can trust in her friends to be emotionally supportive too - because those are the kinds of people she surrounds herself with.
But neither Yasaka nor Mitsumi's boyfriend really have that privilege, and even if they did gain more of a support structure around them, it's not something they've learned to expect. Yasaka is at least for now still gonna seek affection from any boy that's interested in providing it even if he might technically be dating someone else, because it's the only affection she gets. Shima's instinct is gonna be to not disrupt the room and to stay friendly even with girls that cast shade at his girlfriend, not because he doesn't care about his girlfriend but just because the way he's learned to deal with people is different than the way Shima deals with people.
