The entire 24 minute prologue episode of Witch From Mercury is now up on the official Gundam channel.

You know it's one thing when a 13 year old is running around a mobile suit facility and shouldn't be there unsupervised, but when the adults just leave a 5 year old to play around in a facility like that........ wtf

The little kid getting into places they shouldn't when something distracts the adults is just how things work.

Not that happy with the latest Kaguya chapter
When I saw that the next chapter was gonna address the whole Maki / Kashiwagi love triangle thing I was like, huh, that's unexpected, is he actually gonna pay off the whole bisexual subtext with Kashiwagi? He's not gonna, right?

And, yeah, he didn't. In fact nothing even really got resolved? Kashiwagi turning out to be pregnant was a punchline that we've been expecting for like 50 chapters now, but the way it happened was just like... We're still not even that sure she's actually particularly into her boyfriend? Like every time she shows up she's telling Maki how she will totally drop this guy if she ever wants her to and then the ending is she's preggo with his kid? Like I wasn't ever expecting any possible sorta queer context reading to get paid off anyway so I'm not really salty about that, nor any kind of poly ending, but even as a strictly hetero ending to their story it's not very satisfying either.

Yeah I mean I oversold my point a little in that post, but like
we've never really had any investment in those two getting together or staying together. Them being together has mostly been a setup for the punchline of Maki's eternal suffering. We didn't even know the boy's name for a long time, it was just always the love triangle between Maki, Kashiwagi, and Kashiwagi's Boyfriend. Kashiwagi likes him and everything but part of the joke was that Kashiwagi only likes him pretty well but hey it's just high school that's fine, and then meanwhile Maki's dyin' over here. It was kind of surprising that Aka gave these guys ending chapters at all considering how none of it's really got much emotional stakes.

So I would've been fine with Kashiwagi getting back together with him, or with them breaking up, or the girls running off together, or everybody running off together, whatever. But Kashiwagi turning out to be pregnant is used to imply that like, well now her and the boyfriend obviously HAVE to get back together and stay together, which feels kinda gross and cruel to Kashiwagi, even if that was probably the decision she was gonna come to in 10 minutes later anyway

Chapter 100% works beyond all possible criticism just for the panel of Dr. Tanuma after Kashiwagi gets morning sick. Aka has amazing comic "timing" in panelling.

It really is incredible how nonsensical Lycoris Recoil's writing has gotten.

The baddie's diabolical master plan is
1.) Hide guns in paper bags all over the city.
2.) Hijack broadcast TV and rant like a lunatic while firing at the screen about the existence of secret government assassins.
3.) Therefore random people will find guns and be immediately shot by the regular police, giving the appearance of a revolution.

Is it just me, or is Komi-San actually becoming more and more unwelcoming (to english speakers, at least) as it continues? I know that it's always been Komi, Tadano, and a cast of others, and that cast-of-others varies with each school year, but it seems like there's been a lot of chapters recently which just introduce a handful of new people whose names are based on Japanese puns and the joke is "my name is [sounds like]Cucumber-san and I like cucumbers" or whatever.

    The recent
    smooching
arc did have some actual story progression, but the number of side characters just keeps on going up and up, and a lot of these new folks basically make no sense to me as someone that doesn't have all the required japanese cultural background to get the jokes.

Finished the zombie manga "I Am A Hero" over the weekend. I thought it was fascinating and exciting and weird and creative throughout... but that ending was just not it. It ignored all the asides and mythology and questions raised throughout the entire thing to resolve basically nothing except like...
the main character didn't starve to death in an empty city. He was probably alone and vaguely insane for the rest of his sad existence, though. THE END

It's sort of rare for a series to have my attentions so hard for the entire length and then bomb only at the very end. It's unfortunately common for the finale to spiral into a bad last arc that ends badly, but not for a solid last arc to just stop all the good things and replace them with sawdust and nothing.

Mine was Blue Gender. Decent at least anime featuring people vs giant bugs which had a guy waking up from cryo-sleep seeing how crap the world had gotten since he was put under. I also dug the closing song.

Then the final episode hit and and it just made me turn my back on the whole thing.

I don't understand why animation studios don't just finish the entire season, then air the episodes once they're all already done.

It feels like shows are always getting delayed or disrupted or turned into rush-jobs because they're being produced from week to week as the show is airing.

Why would they do it like that, though? It obviously causes problems.

The only thing I could think of is that they might want to cancel the show and save money on the un-produced episodes.

But I can't think of any time a show has ever been just completely dropped right in the middle of it's run. Don't they just pay for X number of episodes and decide what to do after?
