Which meant we finally got to hear the opening theme song.
And some of us not familiar with the property were told it was a pretty egregious example of just plagiarizing another well-known song.
But I was not prepared for HOW much it just copied Queen's Flash Gordon theme song.
Holy shit, I laugh every time it plays now.
Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.
yeah.. I'm probably gonna stop with overlord now. It gets worse every episode.

Compared to the 2000s anime DVDs prices the $800 LOTGH box isn't that bad for what you get.
I sometimes reflect on how pervasive an easy anime has become. Same-day, on-demand streaming services with hundreds of shows to choose from for less than $15 dollars a month? Where the fuck was that shit when I was a kid?
When I was comin' up you could barely find any place that would even sell anime. And if you did, it was fucking rip-off expensive. $30 for a VHS tape with three episodes? Of Dragon Ball Z? An anime with over 100 fucking episodes? Fuck off.
It's absurd by any metric, and I can't believe it actually went OOP.
I rewatched it last year. It's still funny, but definitely not as.
And good lord has Puni Puni Poemy aged badly, yikes.
That goes double for anime, people uncritically lapped up whatever managed to get a western release, even if it was complete garbage.
the big o model is already up for preorder on bigbadtoystore and goodsmile's USA page, its a little under 70$. on one hand i already have the old soul of chogokin big o figure which is better, on the other hand buy all the big o figures?
Huh. I ordered the Funimation BluRay of Escaflowne not 3 days ago. Before that, I "prayed for a torrential downpour" more than a decade ago to watch through it again. Hm. I don't remember if I fully did...
I legitimately think they would not get away with the stuff in Poemy nowadays.
It's the kind of thing if someone walked in on you watching it at the wrong time they might never speak to you again

But also because it costs 1~200k usd per episode so they often just don't have the up front money to actually afford to do so.
Sexual harassment is so prevalent in anime. Like even today.
I strongly advise against it, it's extremely offensive.
In the content or the industry?
I screened it for a group of friends when I was in college.
EDIT: That was probably the last time I saw it, come to think of it.
After watching the not-for-TV episode of Excel Saga, I never watched Poemy.
It's an in-universe show made by Nabeshin(Shinichi Watanabe, no relation) about a magical girl and her seven deranged family members that was designed with the intention of making Excel Saga look like Sesame Street.
It is MUCH worse than the not-for-TV episode of Excel Saga.
Shield Hero, the incel's wet dream, is very popular in the West. So are various incest fantasy series. What anime market are you referring to that doesn't have popular, yet disgusting content?
Meanwhile, Mako:
So yeah, Mako making it pretty clear she'd be very not OK with anybody kissing Yoshida, even for a movie. Fans have been pretty sure Mako's had at least a bit of a latent crush on Yoshida for a long time now but this is the first time it's really come to the forefront. Tomoko, being a dummy, still fails to actually put the clues together of course.
i loved that anime and i don’t think i would recommend literally anyone watch it
edit: no wait, i definitely read the manga. how the actual fuck did this get an anime?
Gimme spider parts.
