Though at least what's going on with Merry is a direct reference to real world nautical folklore
Neat, it allows me to see my favorite currently being written manga go downhill storywise and be like "yeah, that figures" instead of being more sad or angry about it.
Manga in question is
And it's foreshadowed
On Lupin III Part 5, Lupin was recovering from being outplayed and shot by an old rival. Also they did that thing where they imply "Lupin III" is a title and Lupin isn't actually Arsene Lupin's grandson and I never like it when they do that. Even though I know that based on when Arsene Lupin lived, Lupin III would actually be Lupin IV or Lupin V by now.
On Zombie Land Saga, we got part 2 of Yugiri's backstory in the Meiji era, and then we got a big old plot dump and foreboding storm leading to much anticipation for the finale next week.
On Princess Tutu, Fakir ran around trying to stab people and we got his backstory. Also the cat learned the dangers of threatening people with marriage.
Just another in the many attempts to try and make Saint Seiya happen in the states. It's fascinating to me
My dude, this is soft-core porn.
Boy: "I guess I could run for it..."

Hey! KAIDO!
For whatever reason I find Yamato's story extremely compelling and I am enjoying it in animated form even more than the first pass through reading it.
They finally announced the g-witch dub.
Steam
This is very much for the best.
Manga version
Shortly after, Tomo remarks to Carol about her mom looking great for her age and Carol responds with something like "Huh? My mom is only 28." (I can't remember the exact age but it's something like that). Then Tomo-chan is trying to do the math in her head based on Carol's age and Misuzu tells her to stop thinking about it.
Much later, an extra chapter is a flashback to Carol's mom and Carol's dad (I also think it's the only time Carol's dad is in the manga). He's the son of a very rich family, and is finding out that he got Carol's mom pregnant, so he proposes to her. Then Carol's mom replies that she's too young to get married and he's like "...what?"
If I remember right, he was a high school or college student and I think she had been working as a waitress at a relative's restaurant and he thought she was his age.
Since he's away on business or something during the rest of the manga, we don't really get much more on him other than that he obviously provided very well for his family.
I'm the opposite, as soon as I realize a show is going to involve characters saying a bunch of dumb shit completely seriously, I look for the dub. Keijo is probably the best example. Kill la Kill somewhat as well.
Now if those cowards would just dub Birdie Wing...
In that same episode one of Sakura's fourth grade friends gets engaged to her teacher as well.
This is on top of two main characters having a crush on the same older guy. Clamp definitely have a type.
Looking forward to the rest, but if it stopped there I'd still feel satisfied with what I saw.

CLAMP is a land of contrasts.
But yeah, Card Captor Sakura is from a time where people were so desperate to get any LGBTQ representation (or, for that matter, any anime with a Western release) that they were willing to overlook the gross bits.
The textbook cases for that are Kannazuki no Miko and Gravitation, but Card Captor Sakura is also up there.
That's no longer the case, thankfully.
They were very much into the idea of "all love" being valid, and really liked to explore taboo relationships of various kinds but yeah, a few of those definitely don't age well!!!
The show also continues to look insanely good at all times. There's more care and animation in 10 episodes than all 50 of Macross 7, for example.
They have 5 series that can be considered incomplete (though I don't consider Clover to be one of them but whatever).
And 3 of those are because 1 or 2 their members are suffering chronic pain issues due to drawing so much.
Like, loath it.
I stumbled on to two of them through luck of the draw (yes, including Clover). Clover is double frustrating because it's half a normal plot of one of their style of dramas and half restated backstory that was already fairly clear from the first half.
haha, yeah, the prequel episode is a god damn trip
watch out for the whiplash on episode 1, and enjoy
In fact the manga has Carol pointing out that her mom, who is otherwise very happy go lucky and every bit as weird as her daughter, has been *very* clear about making sure Carol does not repeat her mistake.
It was toned down on the anime and completely written out in the sequel for a reason.
But then, Mizuki is completely presented without blinking, because "is ok if the older party is not male". Which, ewww.
Really not sure my bingo card had:
For all its various faults it was still something I don't think I could easily forget.
Goddamn, you weren't kidding. What a delight both of those episodes have been.
