its pretty great, for the most part
Rollo as this version of Monev the Gale was pretty good as the monster of the week I suppose.
I think it's because the first Trigun anime goofed around for a few episodes, letting you get to know the characters and see some more light-hearted moments.
Whereas this one takes a darker tone from the start.
I mean, its a different take on the characters; it's hard to flesh out characters in 5 episodes compared to the 12 episodes the original show took to get to roughly the same place tone wise.
I never read the manga so can't compare it to that, but that's my feeling.
I never did watch any Precure but I was told the series are pretty much stand-alone so I do not really need to know anything about older Precure shows. I will start watching this new show in a few days. I am already watching everything else this season anyway.
New one supposedly also has a boy Precure as part of the main cast which I guess is pretty novel.
AniList
The only other example I can think of was the guy who built an artificial cure commune to use for like one episode.
Cure Infini from Hugtto.
Just make Pochita!

Oh god, that's Shirogane, isn't it?
The voice direction here is really bad, damn. I actually like the cast but the way they've got them all speaking is just not well thought out.
I imagine if I was a native speaker of Japanese I'd think even more female anime characters have squeaky voices than I already do.
That said it's different, but I don't hate it.
No I'm not a zombie just an extremely injured old man.
Still a great show. Now to wait for the movie.
Also shit's popping off on Princess Tutu. I have no idea what's happening, but it's happening.
Despite the title, it is not particularly male-gaze-y, it is very much one of the romantic comedies Where Everyone Shouts A Lot. Also, the main couple work out that they want to be together with a remarkable amount of speed and lack of misunderstandings-to-drag-the-plot-on, so it doesn't spend too much time with this sort of thing:
and even when it sort of does, Poemu is not about to let that slow her down:
and can get onto what happens next. It has one of my favourite story elements, which is supporting characters being very much on board with the main couple getting together and encouraging/helping them to do so, rather than getting into weird harem-y stuff or whatever. (and, yes, the secondary characters are just as dumb and loud as the main couple, if not arguably more so)
oh, and there's rap battles.
Basically, anytime you hear a female character code switch to perfect English it's either Sally or Uchida Shu. I've been catching up on older anime this past month and those two pop more than you'd think.
There's a small chance it'll hit streaming services a bit sooner than the regular 6+ month wait, considering the theatrical release was initially announced as a "Special screening prior to the TV broadcast." Japan ended its theatrical run over the past two weeks.
