As for Chainsawman... yeah that's crazy news on the sales. I thought it was a pretty bold adaptation where you could tell so much love for the series got put in it.
I’m pretty sure the thing I hate the most about CSM is their fans.
CSM has officially entered the Rick and Morty zone for me. There’s no reason why that adaptation with so much love and quality of a beloved product sold so low.
I feel like CSM as a property was overhyped for what we got, but goddamn was it an incredible adaptation.
It’s a weird place to be in as an anime only.
The issue was the voice direction and script. Most of the voices were atrocious, and the few that sounded fine were still acted poorly. And every second line had to be some joke or pun regardless of the situation. OP has a lot of silly comedy but it also has a lot of drama and pathos, and 4Kids made sure you couldn’t take a single second of anything seriously.
I think the original DBZ, Sailor Moon, and Pokemon dubs are proof that you can still produce a watchable product even with all the censorship. Those are all rough around the edges, but still have charm and care put into them.
Bocchi the Rock V1 sold Seventeen Thousand BD/DVD copies the first week.
Nah.
The vast majority of modern dubs are good and many are great.
Bad ones are relatively rare. And have been for some time.
Did it have anything neat?
I find that crazy, given how much Season 1 pops off at Gunfire.
Eve using their massive music video budget to just make AMV's of their OC's is so good
Regarding CSM... While it was good, I think the overall feeling I walked away with was I didn't really have the urge to rewatch any of it? I rewatch stuff a lot as well, so it isn't like that's my default.
Nah.
I just try and not buy into hype anymore. I like it better when I get to be surprised when something is good!
