That's true broadly but for me CSM really is that good. I read that entire thing back to front like five times and I almost never read something more than once. Even my next closest favourite manga I've only read 3 times.
So for my, personal, vote? Worth the hype.

YMMV of course, we are all different. There's nothing wrong with someone saying for them it really is that good though. That can't be taken away from me.

Thread title reminded me that the group date episode of Cutie Honey: The Live is really good.

I haven't seen it recently enough to know if it would be okay to watch standalone (ie. can't remember if it would establish the characters enough) but it was one of my favorite episodes when we watched it on Animenagerie S.

    That poor cow sculpture...

The problem for me with the first season of CSM was that it felt really unsatisfying. While the arc kind of ended, it didn't end with any real explanations of what really happened or who these people really are. Like, the knife girl or the deal with the boss, etc. Things happened, but the things that happened came out of nowhere in the last two episodes.

It was an odd place to end the season, esp after introducing so many new side characters with little breathing room

I know the reason I've been so vociferous in my endorsement of CSM is because of how it's made me feel things emotionally and the desire for other people to experience that catharsis and joy.

I know not everything lands with everyone the same way, but I figure the more people exposed to CSM, the more likely at least a few people will get as much out of it as I have.

    Last couple episode spoilers:
They "introduced" katana guy and the lady and I use introduce loosely as they just appeared and beat the shit out of the main characters. Then after some training, the team goes into a building with another new set of characters, beats the shit out of the bad guys who were previously much stronger than them, and things move on. We never find out what the deal is with the knife girl or why she's apparently amazing or their boss. And after murdering a bunch of people that they spent time introducing in the hotel episodes, it was just frustrating to have another new set of devils or whatever they were called again randomly introduced. And then the season ended with no sign of a 2nd.

the thing with Chainsaw Man is that Fujimoto just straight up does not explain some things

like there's this guy that shows up in the third arc and does some cool stuff and then just disappears. now he's shown up again in Part 2 and he's being kind of mysterious and we're not a hundred percent sure what his deal is.

also we still don't know what exactly the deal is with Knife Girl.

There is exactly enough people on earth scared of Robert E.O. Speedwagon from JoJo to generate a Robert E.O. Speedwagon devil that is precisely as strong as Robert E.O. Speedwagon from JoJo and no more and no less

Getting good dubs is a matter of spending money to make it worth the time of actually talented people.

Outside the English-speaking world, the sheer amount of content that TV stations and movie distribuitors have to dub (as a minimal example, just think on how many man-hours it would take to dub the entire MCU) means that only the big media networks working alongside with actor unions could even hope to tackle said projects. Of course, most actors aren't exactly well paid, but is far better than what people dubbing on the US get.

I think it ended on a good note,
they handled the primary threat, but the gun devil is still out there, and there's the mystery thread of the door.

it was definitely a natural stopping point, it's just the way the story ramps meant the first season would not reach any of the stuff that really made me fall in love with the manga

Chainsawman is paced in a way that does not naturally cut up well for standard anime seasons. Honestly a much less fancy looking 24 ep anime that was just Part 1 probably would have worked better

Most anime or manga don't actually explain large amounts of things. It's really down to how much you're interested in the bullshit to ask questions or trust the author to get there eventually.

For an obvious example, super Saiyan is never really explained until sometime a few years ago and then really stupidly even though it's been around since '91.

And then everyone could do it. Sorta. Sometimes. And now it's cellular? Or glandular. Or something. S-cells! Powered by kind spirit. Or being strong. Or both. Or neither.

    That was fast

Edit: I guess it does say "new production" so possibly an OVA or movie and not a second season

Super late to the news, but the Crystal adaptation of Sailor Moon (that had to do Super S as a movie after getting dunked too hard), is releasing the last saga as another movie:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEescksRBDs

So that would be pretty much it.

This is their last chance to not screw it up, but given how badly they screwed up S, I'm not optimistic.

It's even clear from how the series is marketed that the show didn't do that well, all the merch I see is using the original series.

Well basically so far I'd describe it as a kind of "Trigun:Greatest Hits" with its own spin on the most iconic Trigun scenarios. It's very pretty, and I think it works pretty well... but only if you are already familiar with Trigun's characters. It has such a breakneck speed that it doesn't have a lot of time for character establishing.

What didn't people like about Crystal

Turns out that almost everything good you remember about the old anime wasn't in the manga, and the new anime is very faithful to the manga. Also, lots of very bad CG.
