Today, I found out about the music video of the original Aquarion's opening.

Yeah, this is... probably what I should have expected.

Legendary director Rintaro (Metropolis) has just made his first anime in 14 years, with designs by Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira) : "Nezumikozo Jirokichi", a silent 25 min short film dedicated to Sadao Yamanaka (a japanese live action director who died at 28).

I rewatched Eminence in Shadow over the last couple of days. Mostly because a friend wanted to but also to compare the manga to it as we went along.

It's interesting to see the little things they left out and how they make it slightly more serious, but overall if you're paying attention it is still just total chuunibait.

Also the sound design for I am Atomic is kinda amazing.

Nozaki: The box joke still makes me laugh years later. An evergreen gag.

@Grey Ghost your actual best bet, no joke, would be to grab yourself a Shonen jump subscription, which would let you read the entire manga. You're limited to a hundred chapters a day, but it's pretty hard to hit that, and it's cheap - like a couple of dollars a month cheap

From there you can probably figure out if you want to chase it being animated

There are a lot of layers to unpack.

Each one begging the question: "Why?" with no reasonable answer in sight.

I'm watching Vinland Saga and it's making me curious; is there an anime about the Mongols and the Mongol Horde knocking on Eastern Europe's door?

I know a lot of people didn't bite on The Eminence in Shadow, but it finished its cour and a half (20 episode) run this week in spectacular fashion.

They extended and conjured from whole cloth a bunch of cool fights, and also added some interesting scenes with (apparently) input from the original author in order to tease future developments that even the novels haven't explored yet.

Compared to the manga it wasn't outrightly funny, but having read the manga, I was able to view the played straight edgelord melodrama through the lens of "none of this is actually serious; the MC is a dense sociopathic LARPer" and as a result enjoy the series on multiple levels. One, as a parody in my head, if not on the screen, of chuuni isekai nonsense, and two, as a high production action series. They seriously went all out with the budget and there were some amazing fights throughout.

    Aaaand... second season:

Cipher academy translator throwing in the towel on translating the ciphers.

I finally read chapters 9-10 in question, and while it was one of the more impressive things I've seen a manga page do in a while, I do not envy the translator (or the redrawer) who had to work on those pages. Nisioisin definitely has a different kind of mind to be able to come up with creative scenarios like this over and over.

I also have NO IDEA how it could be converted to an anime, much less subtitled or dubbed.

My first convention, and only, was Anime Expo in 2005 as a graduation gift. Even cosplayed as Fye from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, to the extent I had my hair bleached from its usual vibrant red, which as it turns out was VERY difficult and time-consuming because of all hair colors red resists changing to an extreme degree. Then it took half a year to return so there's pictures of me as a blonde in college, including my original school ID.

The Space Count of Monte Cristo has a very distinct vampiric design. (Seriously, that anime is what happens when the graphic designer is told there are no limits.)

Gankutsuou is great. The Count is very vampire inspired in that adaptation but no he's not actually a vampire. I do recommend it with one caveat:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnNd5XVFKOM
The series maybe genuinely needs an epilepsy warning.
