I haven't finished part 4 but aside from part 3 being like 48 episodes it's a pretty consistent and easy to follow the show there also isn't a lot of mystery or loose ends it's pretty straight forward
I just rewatchrd it though and you will definitely be saying wait what the fuck, or what did they just say it's wild but so much fun
And this doesn't matter at all for the first bit like
I'd always tell people to start with part 1 because fucking
It's not much of one since it is the premise but it was the thing that sealed me
Princess Tutu Episodes 14+ AniMenagerie Chat Spam: This is just 'insert Dark Souls reference'!!! How did Miyazaki get away with this??? No but seriously though???
That's why Stands happened. The antagonists of Part 2 were a straightforward Dragonball style more powerful villain that our hero had to git gud to beat. But Araki felt that story beat had become exhausted, so instead of big numbers being beaten by bigger numbers, most fights in part 3 onwards are apples vs oranges, even if as a newbie to the system part 3 had a few asspulls*. How do we deal with the situational ability to get close enough to deliver a beatdown, and sometimes the best encounters don't even need a beatdown. At its best Protagonist strength is a result of applying previous skills in a clever way, I'd say Part 4 is the most holistic culmination of that**. It doesn't quite escape the threat of power creep***, but the part structure mostly**** means you can safely reset the power every now and then by just having a bunch of new characters be new to this.
**Josuke has previously been shown figuring out how to use Crazy Diamond's abilities to fight beyond Dora Dora Dora, like when he and Jotaro go Rat Hunting and he learns how to reasonably extend his stand's range. Meanwhile Kira as a sharp cookie figures out how to combo his stand with another to also become a ranged attacker, so in many ways I call the final fight the most skill-based of final fights, the coda of the gang teaming up to finally put an end to him with a clutch carry from Ambulance-Kun notwithstanding.
***People call Gold Experience Requiem a straightforward power upgrade that no-sells King Crimson, and they're kind of right, but I think it's more the reward for the actual struggle of the final part of part five, the fight over the arrow. And in this the GangStars use clever thinking (and the will to sacrifice one's self) to win.
****Never mind Gold Experience Requiem stopping Made in Heaven, what about Notorious BIG?
You are officially History's Greatest Monster.
I mean, the first arc is pretty bad, and the next couple are significantly better, verging into good at times, and it's from back when JC Staff hadn't completely bled all their talent yet, but... after that it largely becomes increasingly convoluted and totally impenetrable nonsense, haremed up the wazoo, and the same shit over and over again.
or well ok I agree that it gets even worse though
Onto the Tri-gun remake instead (I never watched the original).
The ones that come to mind are Chivalry of a Failed Knight and The Irregular at Magic High School, neither of which I've seen but the names are so funny to me they live rent free in my head forever
but the manga has redeeming qualities
IE: Being drawn nicely and only being one long tournament battle
The new Trigun is more like a reimagining of the series. You'll be able to watch the original series or read the original manga and still get a different experience.
As someone who's familiar with the original manga, Trigun Maximum, and the original anime I found it pretty difficult to get over my preconceived notion of what modern Trigun should be. I think I have a better handle on what the Stampede is trying to do now, but I'm interested to hear the thoughts of someone who's coming into a completely fresh.
It's a lot. It's occasionally good, but not worth getting through. I'm propelled by inertia. Learn from my example, and stay away. I'll link you the cool clips if you care.
So Fate series but without the reverse isekai setting, cooking, historical dudes getting turned into little girls, and everything being melodramatic.
When I first read this post, my brain parsed it as meaning that reality itself was drunk, and he was fighting to hang on in such a situation.
Then I realized it probably just meant a person who could bend reality and that wasn't as interesting as my original interpretation.
Chivalry has some fucking awesomely put together fights, two of which I go back and watch regularly.
In fact I'm gonna go back and watch them both right now.
Uh, well, without the historical dudes getting turned into women at least
