The whole purpose of the GUND-format was to transplant the human mind into the robot. Hence why Elnora was so horrified when Eri connected at the high permet score -- she would be able to do it. And she was able to do it because of her childlike state.

yeah I could see this being where it is going
I think it' also why Delling got on board: immortality
Delling's motivations remain mysterious to me. He clearly had some agenda with launching the surprise attack on the gund lab in the prologue, and had a big speech that smelled like bullshit concocted to cover his real motivations, especially if he's been secretly researching gund tech himself this whole time, but we still don't know what those real motivations are. It could be he wanted immortality to himself but he seems like a character where there's gonna be a surprise twist understandable personal reason he acted that way.

Part of this, as dumb as it is, is partially alluded to in the manuals that come with the model kits, because Bandai often stuffs lore in there.
So various GUND-format related kits, be it the Gundams or those units specifically designed to shut down GUND format usage, mention that apparently GUND-Arm suits basically hold the potential to upset the power balance between Earthian and Spacians; it doesn’t elaborate on it, but I’d presume it’s because GUND-format tech seemed to be primarily produced by the Ochs-Earth corporation which I (again) presume is an Earthian-aligned corp despite the fact that most corporations now seem Spacian aligned.

As we’ve seen, while the data storms incurred by GUND-Format usage on the scale of Mobile Suits (presumably even a human-scale full body prosthetic like we saw in the prologue wouldn’t generate enough data to be deadly to the individual), are extremely deadly… but the turn around is you can command vast levels of overwhelming power against non-GUND Mobile Suits. Aerial at every form (Lfrith, Aerial, Rebuild) is capable in one suit of easily dispatching an entire unit of similarly equipped MS on it’s own, and now as we’ve seen with the Ur and Thorn they have Bit Mobile Suit technology in the form of the Gundvolva units, which further allow a single pilot to be the equivalent of a decent sized MS squad… albeit potentially at the cost of their health, if not their life, as they burn out their nervous systems processing that much sensory information.

With that in mind, given Delling’s presence and the already semeingly dominant Spacian power bloc, the motivation of demonizing GUND-Format in order to remove one of the most potentially threatening technologies to Spacian dominance from the board seems viable as one of the factors involved. And given that plenty of Earthians saw their loved ones be ravaged by the data storms that resulted from GUND-Arm usage, it becomes easy enough to sway the Earthians into giving up that advantage in the terror, fear, pain and loss they experienced from the war and the loss of loved ones to the machines that waged it.

EDIT: Here we go, the relevant manual bits from the Lfrith, Beguir-Beru, Aerial and Michaelis

Reminder as well about Permet that the GUND-Format uses Permet in the construction of the suit (presumably this is what the Shell Units, those glowing parts, are made of), but for a pilot to be able to interface with them they also must be enhanced with Permet as well in some form, though they haven’t explained just what form that takes; we’ve heard “Enhanced Humans” used in regards to Elan, and that’s the term overall for Permet-enhanced individuals (so Sophie and Norea would also be Enhanced Humans as well, as well as Prospera/Elnora)

Oh no, I'm pretty sure she's telling the truth on his motivations. She's just not telling the whole truth. (Though Miorinne should be able to figure this part out, really) I assume Delling wants to do all that so he crown himself king of everything, and back it up by owning all the guns.

Just started "Mashle" today, and it's so funny.

Premise: The world is basically hogwarts magic. And the wizards are just even worse shits
to people who can't use magic, they downright exterminate them.

Along comes this guy who has no magic, but he's just really, really good at pumping iron

So he beats up all the shitty wizards and tries to become head wizard

Yeah, it's great. I read a description of it that called it "Saitama at Hogwarts" but it somehow works really well. Maybe because a certain wizarding world author was being so damn annoying recently, but it feels downright cathartic at times.

Edit: Because it's also "Saitama at hogwarts, and he doesn't take no shit, and protects the bullied"

Only I think the mc of this series is nowhere near Saitama's level. Just ridiculously strong.

    Extremely sold, thanks!

It was also a very personal series for Arakawa as well, as she grew up in the dairy country of Hokkaido (hence why her author avatar is a Holstein cow.) It also discusses some darker aspects of Japanese and in particular rural life that aren't normally touched, as well:
For example, it is heavily implied that the pressure put on the main character to do well in his studies and him cracking under it is why he failed out in middle school, and as a result he came a lot closer to committing suicide than his teachers, family, or he himself would like to admit. His failure also illustrates a darker side of the Japanese educational system - do bad enough, and the government can (and does) say that it will no longer invest in that student's education.

There's also an arc where one of the students is looking to make it to the major leagues (and it's shown he has the skills, so this isn't idle dreaming) to save his family farm. A major part of this plan is to get the school team to Koshien, the major high school baseball tournament that is heavily scouted.
And when they don't make it, it breaks him deeply, with him winding up dropping out.
