In this week guess the episode title: The Strange Fates of Two Generations of Young People Who Were Caught Up in The Ego of Adults
Golf or Gundam?
The big problem with Ga-Rei Zero is that Ga-Rei also exists, and existed for a few years ahead of Zero, which is why "don't look up anything about it" remains good advice even after the intro episode(s). Not that it's objectionable or anything, though it is very, very tonally different from (all but the rom-com episode of) Zero. It's just... well, we can discuss that once they're done with Zero.
Also, this same director also did Fate/Zero and Aldnoah Zero. And Girls Bravo and Wandering Son. Eclectic dude. Who's doing a show later this year with the very unfortunate title of "Special Kid Factory."
That's funny, given the hate most have for Fate/Zero.
(It was my gateway drug to Fate, and one of the two shows that got me back into anime after a long 2000s drought.)
Well, only like two of us in the stream legitimately liked it, the rest were cracking jokes about the exposition-heavy pilot(which is still one of my favorite episodes).
Mage has turned the top floor of a hotel into his own personal workshop, guarded by ghosts and familiars, traps all throughout the floors below that require incredible magical ability to disable, protected personally by a Servant who is far more than any human's match?
The real reason Fate Zero is good. Meta spoilers.
But Fate Zero just felt extremely slow and clunky to me with very little in the way of payoff for the buildup, and I honestly only finished it to close out the MyAnimeList entry
The only part of it I really adored was the character arcs between Rider and Waver tbh
That's why they all fear the Mage Killer. They play chess, he plays Battleship.
Yeah, though it was kinda fascinating for me when I was younger and watched Ga-Rei Zero because it prompted me to go read the manga to find out just what happens after the anime. and it was good, I enjoyed it!
I had a similar experience with Fate/Zero. Watched it with my Dad, liked it a fair bit, decided to watch the old Fate/SN anime (it was not good) and then when Ufotable did UBW I was 1000% into it and watched that with my Dad as well. If I had started with F/SN I highly doubt I would've investigated the series any further at all.

Well, mechanical limbs...
poor nika :<
wonder if we're getting a kit of that new earth suit
saw someone else point out that last episode we had chuchu getting all shocked at norea targeting cockpits and then this week it was full on urban warfare
also i like how we left off on the reveal last week and didn't get a single second of suletta in this episode
also, pretty lengthy postcredits scene this week
22 min: Oh no! The University is on fire! Save the books!
23 min: Love how the foley for all the dream airplane engines are human mouths making engine noises.
25 min: The dt's are how you know it's engineering! (And/or research, shhh...)
1:03 min: Okay, even the real airplanes use mouth-based engine foley...
1:22 min: More than even odds the piano man is Jewish.
1:34 min: Going through the garden is more fun, eh?
1:37 min: It's true, all airplane designs would be improved if they'd leave the guns off. Fake-edit written at 2:00 min: Oh god, is "we can sacrifice the guns for more speed" the thing that sparked the idea of kamikaze suicide bombers in the top brass?
1:52 min; "We're not arms merchants, we just want to make good aircraft." Mitsubishi is selling arms to the government, that's pretty- Ohhh, they're just arms sellers and manufacturers, arms merchants would sell them to a variety of buyers and have an incentive to multiply their clientele.
1:57 min: Wow, the Zero's speed is literally too high for the sensor to read, huh? Is Miyazaki reusing the "it's too powerful for the sensors to read" trope, or was that an actual historical event?
2:01 min: Cursed dreams eventually turn into nightmares. Figuring out how to tell good dreams from cursed ones before being put into industrial production has been an ongoing worry of mine since I enrolled in Engineering school 14 years ago.
Post-movie notes: After a quick wikipedia read, it turns out the movie's romance is actually Tatsuo Hori's, who wrote "The Wind is Risen", with his fiancée. They were both afflicted with tuberculosis and lived in a sanatorium near Nagano, but only she died. Jori Horikoshi was a married man during WW2 and had 5 children in the course of his life.
It could be Suletta is Eri, after a fashion... a simulacra of her.
I sure did not expect some kind of space Draco Malfoy bully to be the most compelling character in the series with the most character development, but here we are.
Maybe the Suletta/Miorine space hallway chase episode beats it? But I loved everything about this
I'm "kupiyupaekio" on Discord.
Proud Iok traditions, just compressed as hell.

Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar
The author is a master of both impactful page turns and subtle paneling. As much as I like the anime, it doesn't come close to the masterwork of the manga sometimes. Wow.
A side character is an avid Gunpla collector.
Also this. Sayla's, too. Their characters are named "Amuro Reiya" and "Seira", even.
Nope! Sunrise cross-branding out the wazoo on this one.
Megumi Han isn't voicing anyone in Birdie Wing I think, it's just the character name that's the homage (though Seira's VA Yūko Kaida was Marida Cruz in Gundam Unicorn)
... Oh wow, the Avatar parallels just hit me: Suletta, like Aang, is a naïve but competent stranger from a long-forgotten civilization a distant planet arrives in an oppressive socio-political climate. When she starts interacting with everyone, she clowns on, and inspires, them due to her skills and outlook gained during her upbringing, especially the hot-headed Crown Prince of the Fire Nation heir to one of the top oppressive corporations. Then, like Korra, she gets taken in by the daughter of one of the leading industrial corporations... which makes Miorine Asami, if Asami's dad was a huge prick with a rock for a face and made his fortune off selling and manufacturing weapons.
LoK S1 spoilers
Okay, that's pretty much all the parallels I can clearly see rn.
Think I must have read something somewhere else too fast.
