My contribution to the WFM data storm: WFM 16
I'm pretty sure I've saw it here somewhere, but whoever called Eri not surviving as they were adrift in space after the prologue get's a shoutout this episode when Prospera said something along the lines of "Her child body couldn't handle the rigors of space". Pretty sure that's a soft confirm that in order to save Eri's consciousness as she was dying Prospera cranked up the permet score in the Llfrith till she essentially..well not essentially, literally was one with the machine.

Yeah I'm pretty sure your child daughter dying in your arms as you floated adrift in space would drive anyone nuts. Almost as if Prospera is now just some sort of storm of revenge, like a Tempest LOLOLOLOLOL.

am i supposed to believe that WFM is setting up
an election power play between 3 murder high schoolers for control of space capitalism? I think that's a bit of a stretch

This is probably not quite what happened, as the Eri in the datastorm looks noticeably older than when we saw her in the prologue. There's still a missing 8 years in the time line between Elnora and Ericht's escape from Folkvangr and Prospera, Suletta and Aerial arriving at Mercury.

    G-Witch Prologue
IIRC Eri had some augments on her back similar to her mom's prosthetic arm. Thought the implication was she had some sorta space related development issue, like her body wasn't growing correctly in low-g.

But then you'd gotta figure that would be a widespread issue for Spacians, and so far the setting seems to have them as the ruling class of lucky people...
If you mean this, to me that's part of her spacesuit.

I know one thing, the imagery in the ED gets heavier the more I know about the plot.

One of the replies to the comic is something along the lines of “Elan 5 snapped there but I thought he was fine with being an experiment.”

I think it’s one thing to accept being painfully experimented on because it somehow isn’t that bad of a proposal next to you previously living in absolute squalor or suffering, but to have the person doing the painful experiments admit they have zero conviction about the experiments, zero sense of it being for some greater good or that it is worth doing, would be rather irritating for the experimented person.

I notice Demon Slayer's reception is kind of lukewarm everywhere, guess it's not just here. :P

Maybe the formula is getting stale for fans, who knows, or Hell's Paradise and WFM is just stealing all their thunder.

As I've said before, this is a ho hum arc.

If they get to Infinity Castle, things will be as hype as possible.

I don't think it's firing on all cylinders like, say, Chainsaw Man S1, but it's still a compelling spectacle, even if it's just to watch the over-the-top antics and seeing Tanjiro really coming into his own and learning how to adapt while the Hashira get clowned on.

So if I've watched the first half of Oshi No Ko ep 1, have I pretty much got the gist of the show, or is there more to it?

Status quo doesn't truly get established till the end of episode 1, so I'd stick it out before deciding.

    "Episode" 1

But yeah it is movie length for a reason, the premise of the show is not actually established until the end.
The adult brain babies are not actually important and I do not understand why that part exists... I guess it's a funnier spin on reincarnation tropes than usual, and it is necessary to do SOMETHING to stand out if you're going to use that cliche?

I finished Psycho-Pass season 1 this week. It's been my show to watch between all the various new episodes of the more current shows I watch, so I stretched it out over a longer period of time. Long story short, it was excellent. Kind of a slow start which builds into more and more engaging forward momentum. It did a great job of raising a bunch of questions about how this society actually works and then hammering you with the really rough answers later on. I liked how the action was relatively realistic and subdued, which made it stand out a lot more when the violence that does happen is WILD. I liked how the story progression wasn't too conservative, they basically blew up the entire setting and status quo by the end of the season. And that's probably why the follow-ups don't rate very well. The first part was such a well thought out, complete work, any rushed to market sequel (especially by a fill-in team) will just try to me-too any element that's easy to copy, not really make a strong point of its own or take risks with the setting. With that in mind, I did look into what came after. I've heard the movie is okay, season 2 is terrible, season 3 is much better, and the game (written by the S1 writer) is surprisingly solid. Since the game happened to be on sale for $4 the day I finished, I did grab that. I'll most likely skip S2 and check out the movie when I get the time. If that's good, maybe I'll give season 3 a try.

The movie may be worth watching dubbed even if you've been watching the show subbed. There's a lot of english in the original version that's....distractingly bad.

Now, I watched the first episode of Golden Boy yesterday, and friends, that is an anime

The bicycle race episode is the best animation and the best race scene ever created.

The swim episode starts with maybe the 2 funniest scenes ever made.

It is not a perfect show but the highs are very high.

Golden Boy is perverted but unabashedly so, and the energy of the show is chaotic (also somehow the dub walks the fine line of terrible and amazing all at once)

It's like Nichijou in that the animators didn't have to go that hard but they certainly did

Read the Cheat skill manga and its interesting. They changed up the order of events and left out that he was dumping extra points into his luck stat for better drops( not realizing it was luck luck not just rng)

Also today the puppy entered the scene in the anime

They probably wanted to hit certain events in the manga that happen later in 12 episodes.

Question for Oshi no Ko manga readers from someone who's only watched the first episode of the anime:
Do the kids ever reveal to each other who they were in their previous lives? Or is that whole thing just discarded for the murder mystery plot, with the only reason them being reincarnated matters being that the protag was killed by the same dude and that being how he figures out it's likely his dad who ordered it?

It's going to matter, since Ruby wants revenge for Gorou as much as Ai once she finds out he's dead, but they haven't revealed who they were to each other yet.

They did. One of them (I want to say Ruby) made a rule that they don't ask each other about their past life.

Vinland Saga is an excellent show that's also waiting for me to be in a better place mentally before i watch it, because ahaha wow that series is rough.

Also that Kmanga stuff sounds fucking disgusting, to be honest. Just... like gimme the Shonen Jump style. It works! It's really good! I'd even accept a moderately higher prciepoint - it's a fucking steal at it's current price, and if i knew the price increase was directly going to creators (Okay, fat chance, but let me have my dreams alrgiht), i'd happily shell out a few extra dollars a month for it.

If i could access back catalogs ofs tuff like Full Metal Alchemist, Dungeon Meshi, etc in the same way, i'd love it.

But this gacha bullshit? hahaha, no, fuck offffff
