-Gundam Narrative is also listed as sub or dub on the proper desktop Crunchyroll, but only "sub" shows up on the app. I say "sub" because... the subtitles don't appear! On the Japanese language version! I checked the desktop version, it works fine there.
-Gundam Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island (did you guys know this is on Crunchyroll? I love Gundam, follow Crunchyroll's marketing accounts, use the app several times a week, and yet had NO CLUE) is sub/dub, but once again, I could not find a way to choose the dub from the app.
So anyway, the rant above was started because I bailed out of the Psycho-Pass movie sub version within the first 2 minutes. Not only did I know I would miss the dub cast (specifically the two main leads) from watching the whole show as a dub, it was immediately clear the movie's story would be taking a vacation to a destination where the primary language was Engrish, and I would not be able to take it (I also cannot stand Black Lagoon in sub). After successfully locating the dub version, I really enjoyed watching it. If you watched the first season, but bailed at some point from the franchise because of season 2, the movie serves as an epilogue to Season 1, while also being a very cool, Patlabor-esque conflict of its own. While (appropriate to a movie), it's more of an action-adventure than a slow burn drama or mystery, it isn't without its own depth or philosophical concerns. The premise is what would the Sibyl system look like applied to a third world, war torn landscape in the midst of political change and upheaval. The answer, unsurprisingly, is a horror show that makes Japan from the show look like a vacation spa. Think, "We're running a brain scan on everyone in this building. The building that we are currently peppering with Hellfire missiles and 50 caliber rounds. Everyone seems to be in an agitated, violent state, so we're totally in the clear to be fighting them!" The future tech always present in the periphery of the show comes to the forefront, with mechanized tanks, VTOL armor, drones up the wazoo, etc. The CG isn't incredible, but it's not at all embarrassing either. It wasn't "vital" to the series plot, but it was just totally enjoyable to watch and fit in cleanly with where the first season left things, which is more than enough for me.
Next up, I'm getting back on the Gundam WFM train, I stalled out back in season 1, so I'll be catching up now.
Vim Jeturk’s VA Tetsuo Kanao voices main antagonist Evolt in 2017’s Kamen Rider Build
Prospera’s VA Mamiko Noto voices “Mother,” the voice guiding the living sword/ranger Don Murasame in last year’s Avataro Sentai DonBrothers
EDIT: fixed autocorrect error on Noto’s name
There aren't many... examples of media, anime or otherwise, where gore and bodyhorror hits that sweetspot. Where it is -just enough- overall to creep you out but not turn you off the show.
Hell's Paradise is one of those shows.
I'm up to ep 14 now so hopefully the back half of the show sticks the landing
Ep 4
They then realize that the bombings were in the shape of a pentacle, with the middle being the local baseball stadium. So they go there and catch him setting up another bomb. All this is because Japan has become too modern and is paving over its heritage of... tengu culture. He's a tengu, and because he's a pacifist, gives up without a fight. So the protagonist is all "Yeah, culture's important" and sets off the final bomb, fireworks, that to the surprise of all, uncover a gigantic glowing tengu nose in the middle of the baseball field. Then they go back to the office and get another package, which completely blows the rat entirely to bits this time and they all go "Oh, uh, apparently there were multiple bombers." Roll credits.
It absolutely does to my mind. There will be an episode where you deal with the people from the first season, but dont watch the first season, its' really bad. I actually like the slow burn early, because it means you get time spent learning who all of these characters are and why they're doing what they do.

Hell's Paradise is so fucking weird.
I'm a fan of shows like this in general. More shows should prompt this reaction.
Basically https://xkcd.com/386/ ?
Yup, continued to have called it.
Saori Hayami voice acted the hell out of that last part.
I think the insert song Saori Hayami did for that one episode of DanMachi season 4 got released in Japan recently. Definitely something that I would want on my playlist. It is such a pretty song.

Saori Hayami acts the hell out of everything she does. She's probably the highest profile seiyuu in the current era.

She is definitely in the top 3 of my favourite voice actors. (Aoi Yuuki remains first)
The clip below is often brought up when talking about Saori Hayami's voice acting. Never did see this specific show but it is some great voice acting.

Class A saving Deku (from himself) was amazing. When "You Say Run" kicks in, you know they have a banger scene planned.
welp
Apparently with the blessing of his son, but... yeah. I mean, it was going to happen with all the Vocaloid stuff eventually. Maybe already has. I have no idea if any of those actresses have died. Certainly will with all the Biden/Trump 'parody' stuff already out there.

I don't know why I blank so much on anime.
Watching this clip I thought I'd check this show out - only to discover that apparently I already watched the whole thing.
And even now - knowing that fact - I still can't remember a single goddamn thing about it.
Considering the "banging pots" method is used by real people protesting or contesting powerful people abusing their power*, the use of this pot is either cleverly or serendipitously representing the people fighting against injustice. Chef motherlovin' Kiss.

Ruby's pretty bi, huh?
I was a fan of it when it came out. It is notable for being a Trigger series that was adapted from elsewhere rather than their own thing, and was one of their first series (got to pay the bills while working on the crazy stuff).
Basic premise is that all of the members of the High School Literature Club randomly get absurd superpowers one day (One can create anything she can think of, one can restore anything to its "proper" state, the girl in the thumbnail is essentially the Avatar and controls all elements, etc.), much to the delight of the one guy in the club who is an absolute chuni and only in the club as an excuse to read manga. He's convinced that they are destined to save the world, or fight a big enemy, or evil organization (He's also the only one in the group to get a dud power: he can create a black flame in the palm of his hand that does not generate light nor heat. It's only purpose is to look cool).
Cut to several months later when the series starts, and nothing has happened. There are no villains, no aliens, no secret evil societies, no nothing. So it's essentially a slice of life series where the characters are also super powerful, but they have no reason to use them and most of the group doesn't care.
It's not one of the all time great series or anything, but I found it to be a fun watch and wouldn't mind another season, although that seems unlikely.
This show is brutal. Super well done though.
Reminder that Birdie Wing kicks ass.
