“Interplanetary war.”
I we knew that there were colonies out by Mercury before, but now I’m really curious just how widespread humanity is in the solar system in the Ad Stella period and just how the factions break down.
While this might not be the show's logic, real life logic would suggest almost everywhere else would have had to have been claimed first for folks to start trying to live on Mercury.
It's probably close to that. I can't remember if it was in the show or in the background material, but the only reason humans are even at Mercury was to mine Permet, and once they found a more convenient source (the Moon, of all places) Mercury was largely abandoned.
Also Leif continues to be literally the best person in the show. I hope we get a proper Thorfin/Leif reunion next episode.
there are no good slave owners
Unfortunately they blew all their budget on the mecha CGs.
What is and what isn't a Gundam. Contains spoilers for Witch of Mercury.
edit: not the collection that i thought it was, no real spoilers.

It's like a full 50 episode series or something, I sure would hope they're saving their budget for the later story arcs.

Yeah, Mercury’s basically just populated by the remaining Permet miners out there; it’s a shittier version of, say, the situation in the UC for folks out by Jupiter for the first 100 years.
There’s society out there, but it’s not exactly like… big enough to be the kind of player that could probably muster warmaking capacity (hell, Suletta’s dream is to go back and start a school, its basically like the frontier of the frontier at that point). So I’m curious then what the wider set up is since we’re clearly dealing with something settled more widely than, say, the earth sphere.
ow
I think I’ll stop complaining about Toei Super Hero Time CGI now.
Me: ooh Flame of Recca.
Steam
This is actually pretty good, and very funny

It starts off really rough but my god where the story is at now is amazing.
like, honestly probably one of the best series in Jump right now, despite the lack of attention it otherwise gets.
FFS. I want to read manga on a desktop with full screen images. Not tiny images on a phone with all the two page spreads split in two.
You may need to update the app if you had the older version.
There is a lot of good shit here that is well worth the price of admission.
If you have the subs enabled, you can use the website as well to view.
I'm in at chapter 38. I didn't find it to rough early, honestly? It was pretty charming despite the awkward sex gags - which frankly, where handled with a lot of taste relative to what they could have been.
Andy and Fuuto are endearing. Also as dark a kind as it was "I've finished all off my favorite Shojo manga, I can commit suicide now!" Had me rolling.
Also it's getting an Anime adaption @Lanz - by David Productions. Who seem like a solid pick, and their work on Cells alone is enough to show they've the chops for the comedy

So:
Shuheisha = Shonen Jump family of publications = Viz for $3/month
Shogakukan = Shonen Sunday family of publications = Viz for $2/month
Kodansha = Shonen Magazine family of publications = KManga Gacha rolls for coins to pay per chapter (estimated 50c-$1 per chapter)
Viz announcing this the day before KManga comes out really feels like a power play. I hope this spikes Kodansha in the heart, they fail MISERABLY, and switch to a subscription based system.
I want actual good legit avenues to support things like Dungeon Meshi and Witch Hat Atelier.
Not this try and suck any and all money approach (none of which is going to make it back to the creators)

I'm like a month late on this, but yeah I know it's the law. Although I'm unclear what publications it applies to, because Sounan Desuka (the survival comedy about girls stranded on an island) explicitly showed them get drunk off moonshine, on purpose. It's a bit more ecchi than Kaguya, but they're both seinen, so I'd like to know why it was allowed. Is it because Sounan Desuka was published in Weekly Young instead of Jump?
I'm pretty sure there was a panel of schoolkids drinking on the school trip in Tomoko, also

(I'm in Canada, so the kodansha titles are even less accessible for me because even without their terrible financial model, it's not available outside the US)
(edit: a terrible thought just occurred to me.
phew)
It has Homestuck.
Steam
Viz publishes a hardcover deadtree version which... how exactly does that work?
11 bucks a pop. It’s digital versions of the print version.
Steam
The best way to experience Homestuck right now is from a fan archive program that properly emulates the original flashes, the Homestuck website is unfortunately trash these days because the death of flash and poor server transfers have broken large chunks of it
Notably, Andrew Hussie themself has endorsed the fan archive as the best way to experience Homestuck these days
