No, that just makes you a whiny retard. Which, funnily enough, the ignore feature makes easy to spot. Its such a handy management tool...
How does the ignore feature make retards easier to spot? Do the mods monitor who's blocked by who? That would be kind of funny, actually.
If you're ignored by enough people, it may indicate something.
retardation
Letting users see how many people ignore someone might be a good metric for determining the weight of a person's opinion - much better than post count.
Of course, then there's the bandwagoning, where people see 50 ignores on someone and adds them to be cool.

You've got it backwards. People who feel the need to hit the ignore button are quite silly.

I've never encountered someone here on PA that's annoying enough to warrant ignoring, so I can see how it would be silly here. :P
And right after that, we'll start up a system whereby new mods are voted in by the users. The next admin can be chosen via a popularity contest.
That should work out great.
Yeah.
Personally I think that the decision-making should be left to people who were deemed qualified enough to be trusted with it, and not the people who make threads called "Caturday Thread" and "Best Hero in a Video Game?".
But failing that, I never much cared for ignore, and I think if you're racking up an ignore list then maybe that's telling you that this isn't the forum/subforum for you.

But that's just my vote...
I vote for me too.

...and when you are done with that; take a folding
chair to Creation and then suplex the Void.
Can I also just ask one slightly related question.
When someone is ignored, their posts are still listed but blocked, and you need to click 'show post' to read it.
Does this work like spoiler tags or not. I ask only because sometimes it might be appropriate to ignore someone if they are prone to posting shock/nsfw images in regular threads. If so, does that mean, unlike spoiler tags, the images they post are NOT cached or are they?
That is the only reason I can think of for putting a poster on the ignore list. I feel that I can use my brain to ignore someone just as easily as some forum feature, however, it might be useful because then you could possibly avoid someone who will get banned for the images they post before they cause 'damage' as it were.
Of course this is a very minor issue and really, there isnt much need for an ignore list. IF anything, I would look down on the person who feels they need to use some arbitary ignore feature instead of manning it up and ignoring someone themselves.
Posts
If they break a rule, report them, if not, skip that post and be done with it. Jeez.
I think this should explain it
I guess that's fair enough, that was a bit of a pissy reaction on my behalf.
thanks anyway.

I just think it would be neat if I warrented some ignores.
Unless its such a huge list that I end up making myself feel bad by asking.
Yeah.

I would also like to see who's ignoring me, it would help me judge people at a glance
If you ignore somebody, you shouldn't be allowed to mention that they're ignored. If you do, you should have the list taken away for a while.

How about clicking the report button instead and getting their ass jailed?
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
Oh that is a given certainly.
But I think its a case of 'You watched it you cant unwatch it' in a Futurama narrator voice!
