"Chaos" is sort of a loaded word, and depending on where you see it it can mean different things. There's such a thing as deterministic chaos, for instance.
Chaos in a deterministic system is usually taken to mean "sensitivity to initial conditions" - that is, if I start a deterministic system in motion with one input, the long-term result could be vastly different than if I start the same system with a slightly different input.
The wiki article is a good read, though, you should start with that.
