An Inking of Penny Arcade Comic "Patient Zero"
I've been lapsing in terms of art lately, so I decided to get my feet wet again by inking and coloring the strip "Patient Zero," posted on Penny Arcade 04/02/2007. Here is the original:
And here is the inked version.
Not really looking for a critique, seeing as how it's just an ink of someone else's work. I just thought that the folks here might be interested in it. It really made me appreciate how much Gabe's inks contribute to any given strip. I imagine that having a huge digital tablet like he does helps quite a bit, because most of his work consists of long, smooth lines. Interesting exercise, at least.
If your looking for some kind of praise of even a "Hi five" then you'll be sorely dissapointed.
The fact is that you bring nothing new to this, there is no intertest line work technique or color theroy at play here. You basicly rendered your self a "color book" carbon copy and then proceded to color it flat. If your really wanting some sort of approval I suggest you bust out real pens and get to inking your own drawings with line depth then we'll start talking praises.
