After all was said and done, I got a kick out of the Ilovebees stuff. I have never really been involved in the Halo scene, but I really enjoy what I have read about the back-story.

I still have to get that most recent book...

I hear there may be an event at Stonehenge during the summer solstice. Something about the 21st being a key date and light, though I am hearing this second hand. Since I have a cottage literally fifteen minutes drive from Stonehenge I may go there if more evidence supporting this theory comes to light. The only thing that would go against this is that it’s always crawling with pagans and other crazies on that date.

I need to read Ghosts of Onyx as well. I have it but am waiting to read it on a flight to Alabama. Awfully tempting though.

I spent a few minutes attempting to figure it out, but then I realized I would have to be watching it for a long, long while to see when it would complete.

Well, I'm looking at this, and I noticed something weird happen.

It's set up as 4 sets of 3 numbers (currently: 004 006 014 XXX; call them 1st to 4th sets going left to right) with the rightmost counting down seconds from 113 including a full second pause on 000. As the third set of numbers counted down from 020, it skipped to 016 instead of 019.

I'll keep a rough eye on it, see if there's any other jumps and what the 3rd set jumps to after hitting 000. Then we can get a rough idea of what the countdown deadline is real world time. Of course, I'm sure I'm reproducing what someone else has done, but I don't see it anywhere and it's an amusing way to participate.

And apparently great minds think alike, I just have more time to waste :)

The last digit of the third and fourth sets is base 7 (i.e. counts down from 6 to 0) except when changing all three digits (i.e. from 000, in which case it goes 000-113). I originally toyed with figuring out the base of each number, but it changes for different situations, so I think that rules that idea out.

We're about to get a big change, so let's see how it pans out.

Edit: Aha. It changed from 004 010 000 000 to 004 006 113 113. So the rules for the fourth set carry over to the third set. Pretty soon, we'll get to see the latter 9 digits change at once; I'm a little too excited to see if it's consistent or not.

The second set of numbers have a maximum of 32 it appears, whereas it appears the third is like the fourth, but only changes when the fourth has done a full cycle.

By maximum, I mean that it went from 000 to 032.

Nice catch on that, I never watched it long enough to see that. Third set of numbers flipped to 113, with a full cycle pause on 000.

edit: Wow, I suck at this. How did I not catch that for the last two digits? That'll teach me to assume things.

Judging from this, it sounds like the maximum number (base 10) for the second set would 7*3+2 = 23, which would be like the "99" of that set, so it has a total of 24 states.

...so it's just an hour countdown, assuming that the maximum numbers of the third and fourth sets are 59.

Someone should count the number of cycles in the last one. At least it's rather obvious that each cycle last about 1 second.

Sure? That's not what I would guess on.

Any way, it seems it's just a fancy way of doing days:hours:minutes:seconds. The last one has 60 different values (duh), and I'd guesss number 3 is the same.

Yeah, my idea was right. 113 in this moon language number system is 59 in decimal. So yeah, it analogous to our own clocks in that our clocks are in base 10, and have the limit 23 : 59 : 59, whereas there's is in base 7 with the same limit, just translated, so it's 32 : 113 : 113.

I assume if there were more than 7 days left, the first set would follow the same rule but with an upper limit equivalent to a month or a year.

Edit: Hey, a really easy visual. Think of the last two sets as two digits: instead of 000, look at it like 00 0. So, if you're counting up from 06 6, it changes to 7 for the first number and zero for the second number, or 10 0. So the highest state is 11 3, or 1*7^2 + 1*7 + 3 = 49 + 7 + 3 = 59.

    I can see where you're going, but I don't think it's just 32 hours straight. I think the 32 actually means 23.
