I just got a cellphone for $15.

Sounds like fucking spam, now that I look at it.

BUT!

I've had many cellphones over the past three years. 2 Sidekicks (1&2), RAZR, Treo, Helio Ocean (returned now) - and soon the iPhone.

I needed a phone in the interim between my cancelled Helio and the iPhone launch.

So, I headed down to a big-box store and found the cheapest cellphone I could - a Prepaid Trackphone that was $15.

I got a wireless minutes card, total of $40, and now I have a nice, small phone (really small) with a color screen, games, SMS, etc.

I have 140 minutes, every call is 1 minute deduction, SMS is .3 minutes.

I have to say, I really didn't know this type of service existed; how easy it was (and anonymous! holy shit, that's the awesome part) and how cheap it is.

I don't know what to do with the phone when I get the iPhone - but it did come with a little foil pouch to put the phone in and send back when you're done for recycling.

Anyway, color me floored.

I got my first cellphone in February (at the tender age of 23) and I bought the cheapest phone there because I didn't want any of the stupid extra features. Even though it was dirt cheap, it still has a camera and a radio and games and all that useless crap. If I want caller ID or voicemail, something useful, I have to pay to have it set up.

Also my phone has terrible reception. The moment I go out of St.John's/Mount Pearl, it doesn't work.

Stupid phone.

I was just flabberghasted that I could get a fully functioning phone for $15. Charger, etc.
