The art has been so bad in GLC and the Cyborg Superman special that I'm done with SC. It is two-thousand-mother-fucking-seven, and I refuse to spend money on a comic that looks like it was drawn by a very mildly gifted sixteen year old. I don't even want that shit in my house. I throw it on my pile and I feel like I owe Mike Mignola and David Aja a letter of apology.
But I might pick up the GL issues, because that artist is fantastic.

You are done with the whole of SCW because the art on two issues was bad?
And what the hell was wrong with the art in the Cyborg one shot? A few fugly faces aside it was a competently drawn book.
Exactly. Competent. I don't have the time or money for soulless generic super-hero art with occasional forays into embarrassing.
I'm looking at it right now. The guy has flashes of good stuff but his style is all over the place and it's hard to believe it's one person. The first half is pretty decent, but by the time it hits the full page where Supes smacks Henshaw for the first time, I'm pretty much done. In fact that page, and the entire fight/attack leading up to it make me pine for Jim Valentino as a possible improvement. And since I've gotten back into comics I've come to expect better.

I don't even know what Blankets is.
Don't give me that whiny artsy-fartsy crap because I read plenty of superhero stuff, and a few of the issues of this arc have hands the worst art of spent money on since getting back into comics. Some of that shit in Cyborg Superman is sub-Liefeld.
So I'm not buying every issue site unseen. You go ahead and knock yourself out, though.

This is one of the reasons why I just dropped JLofA.
Well GLC 17 was like that because it was pretty obviously rushed filler.
I have a feeling that last page was supposed to be much earlier in the issue, and most of gleason's work on 17 will be in 18.
this makes a lot of sense because GLC 18 was supposed to be an epilogue.
so i'm assuming the Ion power up and the Prime fight was supposed to occur in 17, which doesn't really mess up the Prime special.
but then they realized that #25 was going to slip and they'd leave us without a new chapter for nearly two months, which is something that Johns would fight against due to all the shit they got and are getting for fuck ups like Action Comics, Wonder Woman, etc
so they mess with #17 and #18 and Gibbons' send off gets shot to hell in the mix
I liked the art in GL 17, of course for me when art is amazing like in early new avengers or anything by Tim Sale I really appreciate it more as an extra aspect than something expected. The only time I just cant stand art is when I can't tell what is going on or it just looks lazy like recent issues of Superman or action comics cant remember which one right now.
Anyone else concerned with how the Sinestro Corps War will end? There's only 2 issues left and we need to wrap up:
Superboy Prime - he can take on every hero in the DCU. Will one issue with Sodam Yat take him down?
Sinestro - he's done nothing aside from pimp slapping hte yellow ring using Hal. Has he been just watching his army get wiped out by the lethal force using GLs?
Cyborg Superman - is his off panel defeat the end for him? He was killing Superman in his own special...
Anti-Monitor - This is a big one. WTF are they goign to do with him? Superboy is obviously in GLC vs Ion. Sinestro should be in GL 25. Does no one else see the problem of the 100 ft Anti-Monitor sitting in the bay?
On top of these big guys, are they just tossing the entire Sinestro Corps AND that huge army of Manhunters aside in two issues? Hal nearly died taking on a broken Manhunter. Aside from Cyborg's special and that one scene they were used as fear batteries, they've done nothing. Don't tell me Black Lightning and Hawkgirl took out all the Manhunters at the Satellite.
Don't get me wrong, this is still the best event going right now, but I just can't see how this will work out, even with double sized issues.
I don't think the Sinestro Corps are supposed to be destroyed in this event. Just defeated. Solicits say Mongul is going to join the Sinestro Corps, so they've got to be around after this in some way.

I see where you're coming from KVW, and it scares me.
I'm just gonna ignore all that and hope Johns is able to give this awesome epic a decent ending.

Exactly. The Sinestro Corps will lose by the end of the event. But they aren't destroyed and the whole "Green Lantern side of the DCU" goes back to status quo.
The Anti Monitor's fate is shown in Green Lantern #25, and I'm sure that Henshaws will be also, as everything "big" that happens in GLC will be touched on in Green Latern, and vice versa. We still have two (though technically three) issues left. Plenty of pages to wrap things up.

I totally forgot about that whole Sinestro Corps sticking around thing

Oh I see what you did there.
You caught a spelling mistake, and then tried to throw a zing my way, making me look foolish.

I get the feeling that now Parallax is stored in the human GLs power batteries, they might deal with Anti-Monitor by bunging him in the Central Power Battery on Oa.
Or probably not, I don't know.
I'm just sorta wondering why the new Monitors haven't gone "Oh dang, maybe we should like do something about this guy coming back"
So I am looking to get into this story line. Can some one link me or pm me a timeline of what issues I would need to buy to catch up to current? This seems too cool for me to wait on the trade for like I normally would.

Gotta say DC, I only read the first Ion series because it starred Kyle. I don't find the character of Yat or the concept of Ion compelling enough on their own.

Makes sense, since he's supposed to be one of the main characters in GLC now.
You know, as pumped as I was for the fight after last issue, I got to the end of the issue and thought "Meh, that wasn't quite the payoff I was hoping for". I did like the characterization of Yat, though. It's like a good counterpoint to the TotSC: Superman Prime issue.

It's pretty simple.
Patrick Gleason is a pretty great artist.

Where de sodomy at?
#18, for only being a slugfest the entire issue, had some excellent insight into the characters' motivations
I think Kyle is going to be in good hands with Mr. Tomasi. Hopefully he'll get us into Kyle's head like he did with Yat this issue.
