I didn't mind it as background for the whole War of Light and shit
Speaking of which
I like that we're going to start seeing more of the various corps now
I wanna see the blues
The guardians try to limit the influence of emotion
Willpower doesn't carry any emotional connotations
I think willpower sounds fine
And then of course the whole green is the center of the rainbow, balance, not really an emotion, that whole thing
Whatever
Not like I give a shit either way, but they've been saying that it's willpower for so long that changing it would be absolutely retarded

Also, a white lantern will have ever ring, or would be every lantern spectrum cooperating, and will most likely be how they defeat Blackest Night. (We already have a former green red lantern, and will probably have a former green blue lantern)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I desperately want this NOT to be how it ends. The whole "by our powers combined" bullshit is beyond tired, and smacks of supremely lazy and moralizing writing.

Oh I totally agree, but they need to make Blackest Night a Crisis-level threat, and to do that they need more than one corps to fight against it. Of course, it'll probably quickly devolve into an 8 sided FFA, and a faction of the lanterns will revolt against the Guardians, but it'll probably begin 7 v 1.

and only HAL JORDAN!!!! can save the day by wielding all the rings at once and utilizing every ounce of HUMAN EMOTION
the PUREST EMOTION IN THE UNIVERSE
only by INFUSING PURE EMOTION into the Black Lanterns can defeat them and in some cases return them to life!!!

It's gonna be like the end of Pokémon: The First Movie. Hal is going to get turned into stone, and all the Corps (both good and bad) are going to look over and start crying and their tears will bring them back to life and Mewtwo will realize the error of his ways and fly off

You know what I'd love to see?
You've got the obligatory huge final battle happening (the one we've seen in the prophecy), and it keeps going, people are dying, blah blah blah.
The Black Lanterns show up, start wrecking shit, and the various corps start planning something.
And one corps just ends it. I don't care which ones - Red, Blue, Indigo or whatever - but one corps, on its own, just ends it. Destroys the Black Lanterns without any help.
Bam.
It's a great way to surprisingly establish that corps as a major power, i.e. longer-term antagonist. Imagine if all the 'good' corps (green, indigo, etc.) had to deal with the fact that, say, the Blue Corps had just single handedly ousted the big bad? Or, more amusingly, if Red or Yellow did it?

That's the point. It would make them better good guys than the Green Lanterns. Gantet and whatshername would be all smug, and the Guardians would totally have to eat it.
Considering Atrocitus seems intent on starting Blackest Night, I think that it's going to be interesting to see how they might end up fighting it. Especially since the rings control their users (which I assume goes for blues, too, since it's been written that the further out from green the less control a user has over the spectrum because the level of emotional intensity is so high.)

Exactly. Even better would be the Blue Guardians not being smug at all, and refusing to demand fealty or anything. It would dramatically undermine the reputation of the Green Lanterns (imagine you're an alien world: who do you want protecting you then, Blue or Green?) and can give us an excuse for a rather rich GL world.
You'd have the Blue Corps, preaching compassion and whatnot, maybe passive non-violence resistence, etc. They'd have the Pinks in their pocket, etc.
We know the Rage corps is at least partially composed of people who think they're entitled to their rage, so they'll be a mix of self-righteous people and monsters, so they're just sort of background noise. Yellow will continue to be the same thing, though, so that makes them oddly redundant.
Avarice is kind of its own story-arc, given that it's just one person, so I'm kind of clueless how that'll go.
I just like the idea of the Black Lanterns being this huge build-up that, while genuinely leading to a huge climax, ALSO leads to the revelation that the old power dynamic of the Green Lanterns being the Big Good isn't going to be true anymore.
Any bets on whether they will get to make a Superman a Blue Lantern, and if so which one?
Which Superman?
Yeah. EVS and Johns have mentioned that they wanted a Superman to be a Blue Lantern, and pretty much any one. I'm not entirely sure the extent given that I know fuck-all about Superman, but it seems like it could mean at least three: Normal, Kingdom Come, or Prime. But that's why I ask, because I don't know who seems most deserving or likely to accept if they were to get their wish.

Well, given that Prime was a member of the Sinestro Corps, I think he's out of the running (and he goes by Superboy again). I can't see KC Supes being it because he seems pretty cynical. The only one that would work is regular Superman, but I wouldn't want to see it. There wouldn't really be a point other than fanwankery
it's nice that everyone thinks he deserves some sort of elevated position, but i'm pretty sure that Geoff says he is a GREEN LANTERN from now on. No Blue, no Parallax, no Ion.
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if Superman wears a blue ring

Since January is Villains Month at DC, I suspect GL/GLC will focus on the Red or Yellow Lanterns.
Violet = Love
Indigo = Compassion
Blue = Hope
Yellow = Fear
Red = Hatred
Orange = Avarice
Black = Death
edit: oh ho ho so you think, fencingsax...
Just curious really, I've never read a Green Lantern comic.
there were no female Guardians when Hal started as a GL
they came much much later
as odd as that may seem
why did you have to get that detail wrong. you were doing pretty well at managing the continuity minutia in this

And Indigo is not the same as Blue. But they are close.
No (though, because of the subjectivity of perception, there is a slight overlap in labelling).
Indigo: 420-450nm wavelength
Blue: 440-490nm wavelength
Put differently, indigo is the color between blue and purple.

I don't know about background noise considering that a red lantern has the weapon and the likelihood to kill worlds.
He's Ganthet's favorite Lantern, and was basically the Hope for the entire Corp. when they were on hiatus.
Also, Ganthet looks hardcore badass in his solid white robe.
