I've got a serious problem...

My friend is thinking about buying a PS3. I warned him but he's dead-set on it. The first thing he mentions is that damn Final Fantasy XIII. He hates 360, and he's even trading in his xbox AND PS2 for this console. What should I tell him to help him see the light?

    and that ps3 is a solid system with a nice selection of games being released for it and that if he wants to play a 360 he can go to one of 50 thousand of his friends that inevitably have one

    Lay out a detailed discussion on the pros and cons of the Playstation 3, listing the benefits and problems associated with buying that console, and offer alternatives. The Xbox 360 is the most likely alternative being of similar power and type of games, and lay out the benefits of that console over the PS3.

    Then hope that your friend has enough about him to be able to make an informed and wise decision on which console he is going to invest in. At this price point, it would be best to have more than just FF13 as a reason to buy it. As good as that game may be it is certainly not ~$700 good.

    I agree with Rank, while buying a PS3 may not be the brightest financial decision, if your friend wants one, who are you to stop him? Besides FFXIII does look pretty damn awesome, and he may just be a really large FF fan. Also take a look at it this way. If your friend buys a PS3, you won't have to. I'm sure you have your own console, so perhaps you guys could at some point in time trade consoles and play each others games, or you could just hang out at his place alot.
