Spore -NOT-"Delayed Indefinitely"
Posts
Dammit, I was just looking for that. Noooooooo indeed.
I guess we've been waiting this long, what's another two years or so?
it looked so close to being finished!
I hate the universe for delaying the creation of my own.
Still, hurry up fuckers.
Usually when developers talk about how awesome and innovative a game is, it blows.
It's so innovate it's imaginary.
That is usually what delayed indefinitely means. For example, Starcraft: Ghost was delayed indefinitely.
Well, if EA says it's moved into fiscal 09, then it's not "delayed indefinitely" or cancelled.
I'm more inclined to believe EA than Game Informer about EA's schedule re: Spore at this point.
...not that I much trust EA for anything, but still.
It's not like video game journalism is known for its clarity...
This game looked practically finished when we saw it at GDC 2005.
Now it needs another two years? What the hell.
Maybe EA thought they couldn't sell a game based on player creativity. Right now they're probably looking for a way to add in guns and exploding barrels.
You know this to be true.
Madden commentary over Spore? Hey now.
That said though, FY09 technically includes next holiday season, correct? (That's assuming EA follows the typical fiscal year calendar) In that vein, it's not too bad ... but it's never a good sign for a company to back-pedal from "delayed indefinitely" to "oh, umm, we really mean the next fiscal year, yeah that's right".
Ugh. I wonder what the hold ups are.

Or seen it in the same room as Keyser Soze?
Actually, I think it might have been moved to fiscal '09. I say might because I'm not going to trust second-hand information that came out just today. Wouldn't be surprised, though.
I wonder if he's a member.
I was just told they had a very playable demo last year.
And for that, I will always respect him.
The holdup is the combination of trying to figure out how to place billboards in with ads, and how they can charge people into a subscription fee and get us to still buy it.
Quoted for ultimate wisdom.
EA has realized that if they give consumers a "build-your-own-content" kit, there will be no need for seven bajillion EA-made expansion packs.
So I'm guessing that the initial release of Spore will feature only the petri-dish bits.
To get any further you'll have to buy "Spore: Livin' Large".
This may or may not be followed by "Spore: House Party!".
Still, if this makes the game more epic all the more power to them. If it makes it more cartoony, simple, and "accessible" (dumbed down) due to an overhaul than EA can go suck a rhino cock.
