I run Vista on a Core 2 Duo E6600, 2 gigs of ram, and a GeForce 7950, and Shattrath is 50+ FPS at max resolution on a 23" widescreen with everything turned all the way up.
WoW is really not that demanding. I wouldn't be so quick to attribute severe performance issues to WoW or Vista. The old rule of thumb still pretty much applies: As long as you have 2 gigs or more of ram, you're fine.
When I was leveling up a miner in Eversong I didn't find many Copper Veins compared to places like Durotar, Mulgore, Elwynn Forest, Azure Myst.
There might be as many there, but I missed them.
Also, smelting your copper is a good way of raising your mining skill. I know it doesn't sell for as much as Ore does but you can decide between leveling your mining or seeing Tin/Silver veins and not being able to mine them.
In the early levels, yes. But once you get to 200 or so, skinning skillups slow way down. At 300andabove, without going out of your way to work on either skill, your mining will generally go faster than your skinning.
I played WoW at launch but just started on a free 10-day trial of the BC. Quick question for you guys:
How the hell do I get mining skillups at a decent rate? Through all my questing in Ghostlands and hitting every node I see, I'm sitting at 20 in mining. My skinning is already at 80, for comparison. Is there an easier way to find nodes
are you smelting? Not being a doink, check your skill book, on the first tab, there will be a skill called smelting. Find yourself a forge and smelt those ores into bars, they will skyrocket you through the first couple of levels until you cannot ever skill up via smelting again... its sad really. I forget what point it is, but eventually smelting anything wont help you at all, it will become mine nodes only.

On my Druid, my skinning hit 340 before I even went into Outlands.
Well, ok, I popped in to train Master skinning, but you get the drift.
Herbalism is a joke to level. Especially after giving Leatherworking a shot. Fuck that noise.

This space eventually to be filled with excitement
Due to I following a bot around for a few hours I got my skinning form 80ish to 225 at level 23 in Hillsbrad foothills
I did not have the gold to train because I bought the skill up it still is one of my dumber things I have done in the game

My Mage was at 375 Herbalism by level 55. Now if only I could get five more levels super fast so I can actually go pick all that mana thistle.

best of luck.
I'm an idiot and did not realize you could do this. To think of the silver veins I had to pass by already

If you're at 20 in mining it means you've only found 19 copper nodes.

Yah, the first many, many levels of Mining can be very slow if you aren't smelting what you mine.
Way to take that last final jab at him before he bolts for his freedom.

Having the addiction is tough to crack, I mean look at Dely Apple, he quit made fun of people still playing, stayed away for awhile then came back. After a couple of months he quit again, made fun of people and gloated about selling his character.
I made my first pieces of shadowcloth for my mage alt lastnight. Second time levelling tailoring, but this time around I expect to have my set alot faster. He's only 66, and I don't play him all that much, and we have a billion shadowcloth tailors in guild. I think if I make the most of all the cooldowns available to me, I could have the full set the day he hits 70.
Time to farm some primal fire. Which it was feasible with a 66 mage >.<

He'll be back.
They always come back.

This is my second time quitting.
I cancelled my account (again) back at the beginning of October (the 2nd). Then a RL friend asks me to play on a PvP server with him and his girlfriend a month ago.
Gah. I'm about to make him run my rogue (an alt I made for shits and giggles) through some instances as revenge. I'll probably stop at 29 and PvP, and get murdered by the two zillion twinks.

And now he is playing a Druid at level 70.
Oh, are you kidding me? Fucking Dely. Much , but still. I thought he would make it out.
I, on the other hand, quit a month ago and am enjoying my freedom.

You know, I didn't have an inkling of a desire to play again either. It never crossed my mind. But some friends and I went to see Pirates and the subject came up. I've been kind of bored lately (power might be hooked up at my new place tomorrow, which means moving frenzy!) and we (everyone present who has/does play[ed] WoW) got discussing it, and he asked me to play again on a PvP server. I said hell, it's only $15 and I paid more than that just for my ticket and some coke so I resubbed. Now she has me in her cold grasp again.
Damnit. Just like D2.

How is the 'Cane these days? Any good progression?
we've got phase 2 al'ar to 31%, I think they're downing him as we speak. I'm a healing sub but my desktop just crashed and won't boot up, so heeeey I hope they don't need any healing

Wow, Al'Alar? I take it Void Reaver and Mag and something in SSC is down as well?
heeey, 33% left to my very first 70 and I have 500G, only SMV/Netherstorm/a bit of BEM & Ogri'la left to quest, and only half a clue on how to make money and get the stuff I'll need for heroics!
Oog, I didn't think I was gonna be so divided on actually getting 70. :P
(edit) But hey at least I got my Sporeggar revered today. Free effortless 10-15G+ per day, yay!
Im sitting here doing the unthinkable and reinstalling WoW, I havnt reactivated yet but its only a matter of time. Im just not sure what kind of character I want to play, as I had a 60 Paladin(Screw being humble, I was one of the best Holy Paladins on Thorium Brotherhood when I played, though nowhere near the best geared) and 60 Hunter before. I just dont know what I feel like doing this time around, as not really knowing anyone left that plays on TB anymore, Im tempted to roll on a new server.
So what classes/builds are the shit right now? What has been shat upon recently?

My warrior mining thorium for getting his blacksmithing skill from 265 to 300 got 375 mining without hiting a single node in outland
