Apparently Fox Searchlight released Day Watch in 23 American theaters last week and god damn it I need to find one.
I thought Night Watch was pretty fucking sweet, but from the trailer, Day Watch seems to blow the ever loving shit out of it.
Seriously, has anyone seen this?
Anyone know of any clandestine theaters where it's currently playing?

If you can wait until the 22nd it will be at the Landmark Neptune in seattle.
Yeah they kind of did that with Night Watch too, but I ended up seeing it both dubbed and subbed a couple times and its much better subbed, just because Russian is such a dark and gritty sounding language by nature anyway.

I've seen it. It continues with Part II of Night Watch (the book) and takes parts of Part I of Day Watch (the book), and then goes totally crazy awesome.

Not exactly horror.
The books themselves are not horror at all; rather, very moralistic
light and dark, but who is really evil? dark, who just wants to take care of themselves; or light, who started huge social experiments to "make the world a better place" like Communism
very reminiscent of John LeCarre, of the cold war in general, but told in Russia
Does it have many scenes like in the first trailer with the spot-hole?

Most of the action in the books isn't put in with the same level of detail of the movies because, really, they are not action books.
For the movies, they had to make the Dark/Light distinction a little clearer, and elaborate upon the action scenes a little.

Am not talking about the books. In the movies, are there often scenes featuring something unexpected happening really fast in an attempt to induce startlement? The trailer did so in the beginning, but I don't know if that's common in the movie or just the trailer editor being a dick.
