I recently abandoned McAfee anti-virus and just started using AVG. Now, AVG has alerted me that I have the win32update.exe trojan. Which has me a bit confused since, 1. I saw this on my computer with McAfee and it didn't say there was a problem, 2. I've always kept my computer updated and I haven't downloaded any suspicious files. I'm also behind a firewall.
Since protection has been available for a while, would that basically make the trojan impotent? Just a poor little program straining to fuck me over, but failing? Is this really a trojan or just a file AVG mistake for one? Other than removing it with AVG, what else should I do to make sure it's gone? I've went into the registry, but I've been unable to find any location for it.
