This game seems to have totally flown under the radar. it's coming out on the 22nd (in the UK at least) and there doesn't seem to be much hype. I really enjoyed the first game and i can't see how they could mess this up.

Yeh I got this game last friday and it TOTALLY rocks.

I think I love it more than dirt, surprised nobody has got it here yet?

Every race is different and a complete blast. The distrucable phisical environments blew me away and the physics are top notch.

It needs to be on Steam.

    Now.

I love the first two Flatout games soooo much. Easily my favorite racer of all time.

edit: Oh great....360 only. Guess I'll be skipping this one and waiting for the new NFS.

edit 2: Looking at the official site, all it looks like is a graphically enhanced version of Flatout 2.

We won't see this in the US until September. I guess they feel the need to do something about the big Fall game drought.

I love the demo of Flatout 1 but never bought it. Is Flatout 2 worth it? It looks like a sort of different style game. This game looks completely awesome but I don't have a 360 so I'm screwed.

    PHOENIX DOWN

the demo of this is up on Live now, and it is daaaaamned good. It's like the best bits of Burnout and Destruction Derby. I was up for a good few hours swapping the controller with my brother on this, and that's a good sign. My only real problem, is it may well be another game on my already extensive list of games to buy.

    Consarnit.

edit: and on the straight race mode, i was absolutely stunned both by the amount of objects they had bouncing across the track (running through the tyre barrier on the first corner, then leaving loads of the buggers across the track), and that it's persistent, too. Things stay on the track, and don't magically reset when you come round for another lap. Good show, guys.

I got this just after launch, for only £30 (you can pick it up for under £25 now, for americans, our new releases are ususally 40-50). It really is awesome fun, Destruction Derby meets Burnout.

The derby arenas are great, plus you get the usual fig.8 tracks and such. The proper racing is brilliant as well tho, with debry on the tracks like u wouldnt believe, fences to be plowed through, shortcuts to be made (the track is very open), and barring some slightly "sticky" (you can still do some awesome P.I.T moves on people) physics and rubber banding ai the racing is really fun. The stunt missions are average but they do add somthing different to the game, the music sucks but thats easily fixed thankfully.

Other than being a UK publisher (I think) I don't know why this game is taking so long to come out in the states, it would be a pity if this got overlooked with all the other huge games comming out later this year.

I just bought Flatout 2 for PC. I never even installed my copy of the original Flatout for PC. Is this one coming out for PC? The backlog deepens.

Yes it is being released for the PC. According to EB it is being released simultaneously with the 360 version, but at $20 cheaper. Flatout 2 is still installed on my PC and it is by far the best racing game I have ever played. I have little doubt that this one will follow in 2's footsteps. It's the first game since worms where I not only played multiplayer online, but also hotseat. We should get some PA online play going when this releases.

God I am so incredibly pumped for this game. I just got flatout 2 a week ago and I love it. Easily one of my favorite racing games ever. It's such a blast to play and really challenging. Hopefully the multiplayer in UC will be beefed up a bit.

I wonder what the requirements for PC will be like. My PC is getting a little old but it still runs Flatout 2 without a hitch. Hopefully this one will run decently.

The biggest difference that I've noticed is the addition of deathmatch derby, where you get frags for each kill. I actually like the derby more than the racing. I wish they could have built the whole game around it.

The graphics are a step up from what I've seen from the PC version of Flatout 2 but the game runs 30fps max on the XBox 360, while Flatout 2 runs at 60fps locked with max settings on any halfway decent gaming computer. The difference is jarring, and given a choice, I'd go with 60fps with less detail. The physics glitches are still there in the demo, and are just as annoying as ever.

I would pick this game up if it was around $30 for the destruction derby and other minigames alone. But it is somewhat lacking as a pure racer.

I tried the demo, I didn't like the racing due to what felt like pretty loose controls, but the destruction derby arena carnage thing is really fun. This is £25 on Play so it is very tempting, but I'm going to have to pass for the moment, trying to save some gaming cash for the incoming winter onslaught.

A good demo though. Especially the howls of the drivers when they go flying through their windshields after a big crash.

i actually quite enjoyed the racing in the demo. Controls felt a bit slippery through some of the corners, but the room for carnage and mayhem made up for it. Still tempted by the purchase, but there's Bioshock next month as well as some awesome demos, then it just gets silly.
