I am looking for a powered component based HD system selector. I was thinking about the Pelican HD system selector pro, but it appears to have been taken off the market. I could probably track one down, but I’m worried that there might be some problem with it. It also seems overpriced compared to some of the other stuff out there. Anyone want to recommend it or trash it?
Try Audio Authority's residential section (www.audioauthority.com) - they have some good equipment, including a couple of HDMI switchers. You don't say if you need component or HDMI; I have the 1154A which is component-only. It does not have a remote, but it has priority switching which works well for me. So with four inputs, if input 2 is active and you turn on input 1, the signal from input 1 gets routed to your tv. This is really valuable to me since my cable box is always on (terrible design in my opinion) - I just leave it set to input four, so when I want to use something else I just turn the other device on and the picture changes over automatically.
One thing to note is that it will not convert composite audio to digital or vice versa. This would be useful to me, but it is not a deal breaker. Right now I have the switcher set up with my dvd player, 360, wii, and HD cable box. I also have our standard-def Direct TV box set up to use surround sound through the switcher, though its video has to be routed to an independent input on my TV (the switcher
The thing about an HDMI switcher - and especially the ones on audioauthority - are that for not much more you can probably get a nice A/V receiver that has multiple HDMI inputs. Unless you have 3-4 HDMI inputs, which is possible but not common, getting a receiver will result in one less box and a little less clutter.
Of course, this is largely academic since I think the OP just wanted a component switcher. The model linked is crazy-cheap - I've yet to see a non-powered one worth a shit for under about $50. I know nothing of that brand, though.

I submitted an entry to Lego Ideas, and if 10,000 people support me, it'll be turned into an actual Lego set!If you'd like to see and support my submission, follow this link.

I second the recommendation for the device from Audio Authority. I got one several years ago on the recommendation of that guy that used to write the Hooked Up column for Penny Arcade. It works great.

alternatively a good one I discovered and has been recommended several times is the Joytech AV 240C
7 total inputs, including s video and composite, as well as optical and ethernet on a limited number of the input sets.
works like a charm for me so far

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?
