Not sure, I would imagine USA, since isn't there legal complications relating to ownership of the Japanese soundtrack.

Buh? Legal complications? What's the story?

This might explain why Sonic Boom rather than Toot Toot Sonic Warrior in the latest Smash Bros.

I can't remember the details, but I think it's why in "Sonic Gems Collection" it has the USA soundtrack.

Something to do with someone other than Sega owning the rights to (parts of?) it I think.

Hm. Well, weirder things have happened.

Shame, though. The Japanese soundtrack is awesome.

Sonic Boom is there because it is a good song where as Toot Toot Sonic Warrior is like anus.

I think that was just Sonic 1 & Sonic 2 that had that trouble, hence no tracks from those games are remixed for Smash Bros. or Sonic Chronicles. I don't think Sonic CD has any legal trouble involving either of the soundtracks.

Is any Sonic music in? (I am going to assume you work at Bioware by the way). That's kind of interesting though, how they let you use the characters but not the music. Different people designed both, I know, but still.

Yes, iirc there is some music (I think remixed) from Sonic CD, and Richard Jacques also did a few tracks for it.

Oh awesome. Sonic CD has some really incredible music, so that's not too bad then.

But is it Japanese or US Sonic CD?
(Mind you, I actually like the US soundtrack, which I think automatically excludes me from the Sonic fandom for all time)

This was used for the sonic screensaver on the same disk, as far as I know.

    From the article-

Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood takes the franchise in a new and welcome direction, uprooting the titular anthropomorphic hedgehog and friends from their action-packed comfort zone and dropping them into a traditional-with-snazzy-modern-action-elements RPG environment that closely resembles -- and, really, outright apes -- Super NES classic Super Mario RPG and its handheld sequels, to great success.

    I guess I'm sold.

From the few reviews I've read so far everyone seems to think the game is too easy, especially when you start to level up Cream and get access to her near limitless healing spells that makes it almost impossible to die in battle.

Ergo: don't use Cream if you want a challenge. Simple solution.

Cream is apparently what Toadstool was in SMRPG.

    Actually, no they didn't.

From their review: "Sonic Chronicles is undeniably a nice-looking game, and its slick presentation makes for an enticing experience to begin with. The longer you play, however, the more the cracks start to show, and what seemed like a potential minor classic is soon reduced to just "pretty good"."

7/10: "A seven in Eurogamer speak is something we greatly recommend you have a good look at before you buy, because you can bet many highly regarded games over the years have been awarded a seven. If you're a fan of the genre in question then there's a very good chance you'll get a lot out of it, and often you'll hear a game's vocal following doing their best to boost its chances. Conversely, many detractors will seek to kick it down even further. A seven suggests you're into the idea of the game you should still try and check it out - you might like it more than you think, or be able to forgive its less than brilliant visuals. Or maybe it looks good, but the camera issues were just unforgiving, or maybe the AI wasn't up to much.

Over the years, in gaming parlance, seven has become almost the real 'average' score, but this is nonsense that we wish was flushed out of the scoring system with many publications terrified of giving certain games - particularly those of a great significance backed by big ad campaigns - less than this mark. Often giving less than seven is deemed to be the point of no return, with this considered to be the psychological barrier at which point people decide to buy at or not. But we're resistant to the idea and believe seven equates to being a very good score, and one that should be given more credit. In Eurogamer's eyes, it's still a great game, but one that is likely to sport a few areas where the game is blatantly let down - to the detriment of its overall quality and enjoyment. "

In short, they thought it was a good game with a few flaws (primarily low difficulty). If you can overlook those flaws, it's a great game.

Not at all. There was a little piece of dialog earlier in the game that made me chuckle, but generally I'd say it's average, not terrible.

EDIT: Seriously though, what were you expecting with a Sonic game, Shakespeare?

Well, Sonic games have taken a turn towards sort of complicated yet retarded stories that are illsuited for a Sonic game.

Well, I just got done with this a few hours ago. It was great, I'd give it about an 8/10.

The story was pretty good, but the writing was just fantastic. I think Robotnik might be my favorite game character so far this year, he really showed that Bioware was making these characters interesting. I couldn't belive the ending
    Seriously Bioware? A cliffhanger? AAAAGH

The music was alright, I didn't like most of it but there are a few great tracks (
    Noctourne's
    comes to mind).

All in all, I really wouldn't mind a sequel.

Okay, so i've been playing this for 4 or 5 hours and here are my only complaints so far

The music is pretty much shit (except for the battle themes which are kinda catchy)

WAAAAAY too much backtracking in the first few hours of gameplay

Messing up the EBA style POW attacks have too harsh of a penalty

and the numbers in battles almost seem random sometimes..I know there's speed and defense type of modes being activated by the enemies, but it would be nice if it were a bit more clear on what's going on

So yeah, other than those things, great game so far.
